Vibrations 45+ Mph & Braking

I got a few questions. I have a 99 GST and when I get up around 45 or higher I get a vibration. The car doesn't really shake off the road. All the tires are in pretty good condition. My though is that maybe they need balanced. I also have another pulsating vibration when I apply the brakes. The previous owner said he just put new front brakes on the front so I pulled off the back wheels today to check the back brakes. They seem worn but to me they don't seem to be the cause of the vibration. If anyone has any ideas on what this might be it would be very helpful. Thanks

Well, the front rotors may be warped a little causing the vibration you feel while braking. Also, it's probably time for the wheels to be balanced anyway. That may solve your problem. It could be other things as well. Things like, worn wheel bearings, worn suspension parts, out-of-round tires, bad driveshaft bearings etc. A lot of things can cause vibrations while driving.

If you have already checked the brakes(especially the rotors as they would cause vibrations if they are warped) I would look into getting an alignment

Sounds like the rotors are warped. Pull em off and see if they can be turned. As long as the rotors aren't blue, they should be turnable.

That said, if they are turned too much, they may be too thin and heating up quickly and causing the vibrations. I'm thinking my front rotors might be getting to that point. one panic brake going down hill at 70 mph and I got vibrations as well.

I think tomorrow afternoon I'm going to pull the front wheels off and have a look. I just wanted to get some ideas. Warped rotors sounds very likely to me, they just don't look warped. The vibration around 45 or higher is my main concern. I'm hoping the tires are out of balance or one if bad. Thanks. If anyone else has any ideas feel free to let me know. I'll try to post updates as I go along so hopefully this thread will be helpful to others as well.
