Hello,
The clear coat on my 90 TSi AWD is bubbling like CRAZY. It looks like there is bird poop all over my car where the clear is coming up.

At this point I know the paint isn't savable. Most of the bubbles have ruptured and now it is just peeling all over. The car looks like a person after a bad sunburn with skin peeling everywhere.

Is there any good way to get this stuff off? I can go over the whole car and scrape it but that would take hours upon hours.

I am going to try the pressure washer next, but I was wondering if anyone else has found a good way of getting the de-laminated clear coat off the car?

Wet sand it off, it will just flake off over time, having the same thing on one of my cars.

Get you an orbital sander some 400 grit discs and go to town spraying with water will prolong the life of the sanding discs

Unless you are ready to paint it, don't touch it. The clear coat that is left is still providing some protection. Scraping or sanding it off won't look any better. If you are ready to paint it, all clear coat must be removed in order for the paint to have a good bonding surface.

+1 if there is any shinny spots, then its not prepped enough for new paint..

I'm not going to paint it until this summer.

I dont want to remove any clear coat that is still bonded with the paint, I would just like to get rid of the shit that has separated from the base coat but is still attached to the clear coat that is still bonded to the paint (does that make sense?).

I dont mind if the car looks shiney then flat in some areas, but when the clear pulls away from the base it looks white, so my entire car looks like it's covered in big white rings.
