Just got my first auto dsm and it has a broken flexplate. I pulled the trans and ordered a kiggly flexplate. It is installed according to the kiggly website.(no spacer on the crank side and one on the outside facing trans) Also the lifted center of the flexplate is facing the trans.

The problem is the trans would not bolt up no matter what i tried it was 1/2 inch off from bolting up. I then pulled the trans back out and bolted up the converter to the flexplate and it bolts up just fine.

Also.... With the trans out, the position of the converter when bolted up to the flexplate dose not line up with the starter at ALL.

So even if i got the trans to bolt up it seems like the starter gear will not line up with the converter..

Are you positive that the flexplate is not installed backwards? When the flexplate is installed correctly, the flexplate will be pretty close to the back of the block.

Also make sure you have the converter seated all the way into the pump before you try to reinstall the trans. Bolting the converter to the flexplate, then installing the trans may damage the pump.

Yea i printed out the diagram on the site. The flexplate sits very close to the block. The other way would push the converter out way to far. I just bolted the converter to make sure it was bolting up evenly as it seemed not to when it was in the trans.

I think mayb the converter is not seating in all the way. How far is it supposed to slide in? It seems to sit flush with the trans mayb a 1/4 inch back. And thats as far as it wants to go.

Im pretty sure the converter is not seated all the way. It needs to be deeper in the trans than your describing. Use your palm to push and spin the converter clockwise and it should go on a little further. Good luck.

I agree, it sounds like the converter is not all the way in. If it doesnt want to go on, remove the converter and look down the snout of the pump. There is a possibility of something falling in there keeping the converter from seating all the way.

Yupp, the converter was not seated all the way in the trans. It took forever for it to seat. Thanks guys.

Trans is in now but now it seems as if the starter is not lining up with the converter.:hmm: I can see up to the starter and its no way near the teeth on the converter. WTF.

did you ever get it working? remember the starter gear extends to grab the converter, they wont line up at bolt on.
