Tossing around the idea for some Enkie RPF1s, silver, 17x9 +45 I'm thinking. Quick photoshop, took the rims off of tsidrift1's car/photo's (he also runs 17x9 +45s, so I'm assuming this is how the car would actually sit, or atleast somewhat close). Looks amazing to me, thought I'd show you guys...

Looks damn good. Starting to like the lower offsets more (but thats on a honda) LOL.

obviously a lot of how good it looks, to me anyways is do to how much the car is lowered, and how much clearance you have. With that in mind though, i gotta say the rims look amazing with that set-up

17x9 w/+45mm offset will not fit.
The arch of the rear knuckle will hit the tire.
About the bigget rim tire package you can put on a 97-99 GSX and not look like a skateboard is 17x9 w/+35mm offset w/255/40/17.
I will be running ^^^ that exact set-up with Nitto NT-01 R-Comps.
Have a look at this calculator Wheel / tire size calculator / comparer - RIMS-N-TIRES.

Make sure when you choose tires you go to the manufacturer's website and get the exact tire specs, especially width.

Here are some other links to threads on here to help you with your decisions.

Hmm, good info dude. Thanks!

I did some research to see how the 17x9 +35mm RPF1s would look, and they still have that concave face, which I want. Hopefully they'll fit.

Mind you, they'll noticeably stick past the fender. I'm running 18x8.5 w/ ET35 and I mine stick ever so slighty beyond the front fender.

I'll be curious to see what your will look like...

I dont mind them sticking out a hair, as long as its not drastic. You think these would stick out too far if I ran 17x9 +35?

Personally I think your car looks better now than with RPF1's. Your car is perfect in my eyes but if you want to change the wheels I'd say go for Volk GTV, Volk CE28N, Advan RS, Advan RZ, or even any of the Rota models that look alike to any of those styles.

I test fitted a set of 19x8.5 +35 from a buddy's EVO and it stuck out more than I liked. I'll see if I can dig up some pics of that. Just keep in mind that a 9in rim will stick out another 6mm beyond what I had.

An 9" + 35 will stick out about 15mm more than my current wheel set-up. My 18x8.5 +44 is wrapped in a 235/40 tire and there is barely any clearance between the knuckles and the tire. I've never had any rubbing issues on the inside edge, but it's close enough that tire model would more than likely play a hand in weather or not it will fit.

Hah thanks dude. Yea Im just playing around with idea's and this was the first idea I had. Nothing is official yet, I even still have a motor to finish LOL.

Interesting info. When I do choose the rim I want, I wanna go as aggressive as possible.

Honestly, it'll be more than just a hair past the fender, especially on the fronts is where you'll notice it most. blackGSX2g has some good insight as well, and hopefully he can dig up some pics to show his findings as I've noticed my gallery is really of no help.

But in all honestly, I would say 17"/18"/19" x 9" on these cars is gonna push past the fenders beyond what most people will find desirable (on 2Gs that is).

Best of luck on your decision though. You have a great looking car already and I'm sure whatever you decide it will only get better.

** That being said, you could always move ahead and prove me wrong ... it's been done before. 17x9 would look sick of the poke wasn't too bad... **

I have sucessfully rolled my fenders. After I lowered my car every time I hit a big bump the sidewall would scrape on the fender on the inside of the wheel well(stuck out a good 5/8 of an inch.) I first tried rolling them with a baseball bat which didn't work. I then tried heating them up and using a hammer and that didnt work either. I then decided I was going to have to pay to rent a fender roller. I rented it off a guy on ebay for 60 bucks. The product arrived shortly after I ordered it. I used the eastwood fenderroller. It was much harder to use than I thought but it got the job done and my tires no longer rub.

Very nice Photoshop work. I have definately seen worse. Good choice in wheels, man.

Sorry I'm late, I had all the images stored on my work laptop which I conveniently left in my office over vacation.

Here is an 8.5" rim with a +35 offset wrapped in a 235/35/19 tire on a stock 2g AWD ride height:

Here is the same wheel/tire set-up on my current lowered 2g AWD during it's build last winter/spring. Don't mind that the car is not complete in these pics, it was just for reference.

Remember that a 9" wide wheel at +35 will stick out approx. 6mm more than the pics above. It rubbed in the rear on the actual fender, not just the lip on the inside. I never drove the stock ride height car with those wheels on it, so I can't comment on that.
