I have a 95 MT 420a eclipse California spec. I need a new ecu and am trying to save some cash but still get a new ecu....not to mention my ecu is hard to come by! So, my question is does any one have any experience swapping out the California spec ecu for the federal ?The plugs and wiring harness are the same as far as I can tell and I have never been asked my emissions type when purchasing sensors, so I cant see why it would be a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 97 RS as well as my 99 gst. i have switched out the ecu on the rs before because im trying to get cruise control to work. Anyways while researching that i never saw anything for a california spec ecu so you should be fine just to use which ever one you find first.

You can use a Federal ECU in a California car without a problem.

The 95 ECU is EPROM. Meaning it's desirable for those wanting DSMLink. Only ECUs you have to worry about when swapping is 6-bolt vs. 7-bolt when it comes to firing order.

But seeing as you have a 420a...you don't have to worry about any of this.

Mods and Wiseasses, feel free to chime in if I've mixed something up. :D
