I'm throwing codes for my post cat o2 on my eclipse rs. I've been having idle problems and i was wondering if that could mess with the idle becuase i have checked and changed everything esle that could affect idle. (tps, iac, tb, all gaskets, vacume leaks and what not) So could it be the post cat o2? The codes and idle problems started at the same time.

ALSO: This weekend i am going to delete my cat and run a resistor for the post cat o2 which will make it think there is nothing wrong. Will this make the CEL stop popping up or will i have to get it cleared?

thanks all

The Rear O2 Sensor does nothing but check if the Catalytic Converter is working, it will not cause any idle or performance issues.

I don't much about the Chrysler ecus, so can't give any input on what would cause idle issues, but most ecus have a way to set and calibrate the IAC, Idle Speed, BISS, etc.

The ecm will attempt to find an rpm around 850. If the adjustment on the screw on the throttleboby is wrong it will set a DTC. Usually the screw could be turned out/in 1/4 at a time to raise/lower the rpm. The ecm will try to adapt. If the screw is too far out, the idle will hunt between high /low. There is a specific procedure to set the base idle but on the simple side the above process will work. Then clear the codes. :) Tres..

the only thing the rear 02 sensor does is make sure the cat is working properly via comparing the front 02 sensor reading is diff than the back because the CAT changes it but no it has nothing to do with your rough idle try adjusting the idle set screw just a tiny bit and your ECU will recognize that you did that and your idle shouldnt jump around

If you live somewhere you have to a cat in it to pass inspection, then put a high flow cat in it. If you don't have to have one to pass inspection then put a test pipe in it.
