Hey how much power are these bottom ends able to handle? A fresh rebuilt 6 bolt with 1g rods and 2g pistons.

Just wondering because My VW is no good for over 320 to 350 TQ. TQ spikes are a killer. Thanks guys.

Its been pretty well proven and tested that stock bottom ends can handle about 450whp. Providing your tuning and and supporting mods and MAINTENCE is in check and don't continually pound on it and drive it somewhat normal every once and a while 400-450 should be a walk in the park

Wow not bad at all. I need some help on tuning. What should I do if I am going to be running 500+. A standalone system or dsm link ?

In the other cars I came from you send your ecu out to have it flashed and you can mess with the tune a tiny bit. Thanks guys.

I wouldnt mind a EMS type tune but its expensive and I already dopped a buttload of money on the motor build and turbo setup.

a standalone would work for a 500whp car very easily but the cost of the system and time to install it plus the time/money spent tuning it gets a bit ridiculous

dsmlink isn't exactly cheap however it is certainly bang for the buck and unless your looking to run 9's in the 1/4 it will offer you more then what you will need.

I think 9 seconds is out or my reach because I am not making a strictly track car. I know enough about everything but Tuning. I need to meet someone who is somewhat local and help lend a hand on that stuff. It looks like greek to me as of right now.

Now for the dsmlink I wouldnt be able to use my ecu right ? I would have to get that socket thing everyone talks about on here. Again like I said my other cars were tuned by a company like unitronics or eurodyne so not much experience with tunes.

Thank you.

you use your ecu but you have to send it to ECMTuning, Inc. and they do the socket service and send it back to you then you install the program on a laptop and connect into your obd port and start tuning. dsmlink isn't to hard t o use. getting a wideband is a need to properly tune anything.

I have a general knowledge on what does what its just that I have no idea how to use ecmlink. I am just going to buy it and figure it out from there.

Listen you are more then welcome to over here and shoot the shit with me as I tear this thing apart. Always looking to meet new people ### I am not from PA originally.

Hello all haha, I didnt think Scranton would get its own section on here I was pretty surprised. Im always up for meets and to help anyone with anything. George, I think you know my buddy Dave from Jersey...he hangs out down in W/B had a red 2g hx40 and now has a 1g laser.

yes jeff i do know dave and you also. Just never met up with you this summer...you were always at sonic and I was always in kingston LOL

hahah yea, you'll have to come up when we start going down again. It'll be spring time again before ya know it and the cars will start coming out of hibernation...ahhh the best time of the year haha

i swap ecu from 98 gsx and flash with ceddy custom big map for spec my car LOL)))))
CEL lights at 5 knock counts (At 5 counts timing starts being reduced)
2-Step at 4550 rpms
AntiLag starts at 4100 with -5* Timing and 9.0 AFR
Fuel Cut Removed
Speed Limit Removed
Load and IPW Limit Removed
Enchanced MUT Table with more Loggable items.
Emissions Equipment Tests and CELs removed (No CEL)

Being able to flash the 98-99 ecu is great but i think its just as cheap and alittle easier to find an Evo ecu to buy and just install that. Not to mention the maps, tephra mods, etc are much better right now especially speed density. Im sure 1 day the dsm ecu will reach that but right now I'd still recommend the evo ecu>98-99 ecu

Oh nice, I was unaware he got that far with it. Goodluck with it then!

Does anyone know a shop or a person that can do some work on my DSM. I picked up more hours at work so 56 hours a week plus building my kitchen, I dont have time but I have the money.

Plus I dont have a warm spot to work on this and I want it done by april, may. All you have to do is pull the motor right now.

Let me know. Thanks.

why me!!! if my garage wasn't packed I'd be able to help ya out right now. I can't do anything like this until spring. I only charge $35 an hour. Its half of what any shop chrages around here just simply because I do it out of my house and just for some extra pocket cash. I do it as the daily grind m-f and do some jobs on the side but my boss won't let me do anything at his shop after hours.

Well listen you can charge me $50 bucks an hour if you push some stuff out the way for me. LOL

i talked to a friend of mine today that i work with who also has a shop at his house with room. said he would pull your motor but you need to tow the car to him and tow it out when hes done pulling the motor. unless you have the other motor ready to drop right in. anyways his name on here is cougarelimin8or ... that should be spelt right. he lives in swiftwater. about ten minutes from camelback. if your interested just pm me and I'll give ya his number and maybe you guys can work something out.
