Well I'm starting work on a new jobsite next week (Fort Meade army base) and that means I'm gonna be making some very nice money. I have a few parts picked out that I'm going to be picking up but I'd like to do something with the trans. I do plan on the IPT torque converter, end clutch kit, and translab shift kit but I'd like to get something to allow me to manually change gears. I'd really like something along the lines of the now non-existent TCUgo for use with paddle shifters. So far the only product I've found has been the IPT Electro-matic controller but it doesn't give me the option of adding paddle shifters. I read elsewhere that IPT was planning a remake of the electro-matic that used a gated shifter instead of the push button. Can anyone shed some light on this or recommend a product that fits what I'm looking for?

The RoadSurge shift box can be used with external inputs, so if you have the paddle shifter already whatever you want to trigger the shifts it should work.

There is a member that turns the stock shifter into a full pressure manual shifter.
PM me if you're interested as I don't know his forum name off hand.

Why don't you let the trans do what it was intended to do (shift by itself) and get a chip made my highpsitsiguy that makes it so you have full line pressure shifts, programmable shift points, and possibly a dual-tune chip?

That's the way to go.

Isn't constantly running with full line pressure bad for the trans though? My car is also a daily driver so I don't want to be running full pressure all the time on the streets.

talk to eagletalontim on here. he makes and sells the roadsurge shiftbox. I bought one and loved it

I'll hit him up and get some more info from him. I know there are other options but I really don't want to run something that's going to cause damage from daily driven use.

No, it only has full line pressure when your over an "x" amount of throttle position. It has regular line pressure when driving around town or on the highway, but when you hit, say 80% throttle, it gives the trans full line pressure so it can hold everything together.

You can even get it done to where you have two maps setup, and with the flick of a switch, you can change from one to the other.

The shift-boxes use full line pressure all of the time, not to mention that you have to shift it yourself as well.

At least PM him (highpsitsiguy) and get more info. I was in your same shoes, and after doing some homework, I found this to be the best option for me.

I was under the impression that the TCU, even at 100% line pressure, is not the same as those who ditch the TCU and go directly to the solenoids.

I'd like to hear what Highpsitsiguy says about that as I like his option.

From my experience, it seems to be the same. I don't see why it wouldn't be. I am directly commanding the solenoid to be 100% which is the same thing as disconnecting it like the shift boxes do. There are 700whp cars running this way without issues.
