Alright so i finaly bought my new trans and when it got here and i got ready to install I realized i bought a 97 trans and i have a 95-96 t-case and i need to get a 97-99 t-case. Is anybody looking to trade/have one for me to buy? Been looking around and all i seem to find is the early t-cases out there. I been waiting to get a trans and put the damn thing in for months now :( . Also, the only thing i have to swap for the 97 trans to work is the t-case rite????

Damn looks like im going to have to get more hours at work. What else do i need to run the 97 trans in my car the last owner had a 95-96 trans in this car. I heard you have to swap out the rear diff for a 97+ diff?

No, all manual rear diffs in the US are 3.545. You can double check this by looking at the label on the rear diff cover. If it says 3.545 and you have the matching t-case with the trans, you're golden!

The t-case I'm selling is completely rebuilt. It looks like it's brand new. I'm sure if you look around enough you could probably find a good used one for around $100. Mine is on the shelf, ready to go and has a 14 month, unlimited mileage warranty though ;)

I always thought there were 2 different (22 and 23 spline)driveshafts that match the correct t-case? correct me if i'm wrong..:)

thanks for the info jack and i also heard you have to change the driveshaft to match like xreaction122 is saying? I just want to make sure so i dont end up spending more money been dumping money into my baby it sux.

You can also swap front differential ring gears (or the entire assembly) from your 97 with one from a 91 - 95 transmission.

Your transmission has gear part number MD770499 and you need MD748872 (aka MD742533).

If you want to buy the ring gear, JNZ sells it new for $120.64

Hey, no problem! The 22 spline t-cases came in the early 1Gs. 92-99 were all 23. Just count the splines in the coupler.

All 2G trannies had 23 spline output shafts, so as long as you are sure you're buying a 23 spline t-case of the right year you're good to go.
