2G Pistons-How much power?

It cost me right at $100 to have my 2g pistons installed on my 1g rods. It was done at a reputable shop and probably the best in the area. Now I'm saving for the rest of the bottom end to be put together by them.

As for the amount of power you can get, I've already stated my opinion. I'm sure you can get 500 whp out of that setup, but for how long would be the question.

how long indeed. that should have been included in my initial post. However, if it's going to cost $100 to machine the rods, isn't that about the same cost as forged Ross or Wiesco pistons? I thought i may be saving myself a few bucks and running a good factory piston. But in the long run, what is the cost comparison of machining the rods and having forged pistons that fit? I see Wiesco and Ross pistons running about $375 to $450. 2G pistons run $265 to $300 without machining. Anyone varify or find better prices? I'm working with a budget here and want the best i can afford, even if it means spending an extra $50-$100. Anyone else have a cost comparison?

I am shooting for enough power to get a full weight DSm into the low 12's high 11's on pump gas. The motor I just had built, we it will be picked up in the next few days, is a 2G pisotn 1G rod motor. I have seen a hand full of people make good power on this combo. when it is all said and done my short block will cost about 700.00 and that includes the price of BRAND NEW 2G pistons and rings. My entire motor will be completely rebuild with all new parst for about 1200-1400 dollars. Yes that is with a fresh head, Mitsu gaskets, studs, and the like. Try and find any stroker or and fully forged motor that cheap.

Also do you have alot of confidence in you machinist. When you get into forged parts the maching gets more dificult and the chaces for a mistake go up. Cast pieces are a bit more forgiving in this area. There is a guy that was local that had the same motor I have now and he put a ton of miles on at and it ran low 12's on pump gas all day everyday. He now lives in Cali and it still runs hard with no problems. He hasnt had it dyno'd but it made enough power to go low 12's even with a decent size stereo. I would just hate to see you spend money were it isnt needed just becasue of guesses and myths.

i would like to tell you guys about my experience... i have a full interior 2g with a little bit of diet involve... such as cf hood and a tenzo r non reclinable seat.... with some aftermarket wheels.. car wights 3200 with driver.othe than that the car is full weight with a/c and everything else in....
my car on a stock bottom end with a mls and arp's head studs on a 100k motor ran a 11.4 @ 125.... with no traction of the line.... and this is on 30psi on a 35r on shell 93 and meth inj....

everything is about tuning i can never say how big of a difference tuning does for a certain car... and engine will hold up way better if it tuned properly with me i tuned my car very conservatie with 11.0 a/f and with stock timing 16deg... i never got the car on the dyno but alot of the dsm guys here estimated the car to be making a little bit over 500hp to the wheels..... another guy from here made 550plus hp fwd.... so i can say anything is possible its all about how the car is tuned......

I'm rebuilding my 6-bolt and want to know how much power the 2G pistons can handle. I'm only looking to get about 400whp out of the engine. However, it may end up more like 450whp. Is that pusing it on these pistons? :

Was running stock with basic bolt ons, long tube header, msd ignition, stg 2 cold air intake, plugs and wires
