The other issue of it being thin, have you ever considered fiber-glassing the back for some more structure?

Tom
i got a PM from jordon at 386 customs saying that they were going to turn the edges of the new lips in to give them more depth but adding fiberglass to the backs of them would be a :thumb: as well, def. wouldn't help in the cost though.

:dsm:

The mold has been modified and we will keep modifying it until we reach the point of correction. I thank everyone for understanding and for the input, without it we would have shipped out 27 square shaped lips and would not have had a clue that there was an issue. The first five were put out just for that reason, we are also going to add another layer of gelcoat to our process to remove the occasional wave.

Gofer, your car is sexy... even with a square miss shaped lip :ohdamn:

So you only sent out the first 5 then correct? I just made my second payment about a week ago, before mine, and everyone elses gets shipped out, they will be corrected, and then shipped?...If so that would be a great idea and a positive note for everyone.

I wish someone made a full on rear diffuser for our 2g's. That'd look damn sexy.

386, don't let peeps put you guys down. I know that once you are use to seeing something for a long time, it is hard to notice any changes because it flows smoothly to mistakes and it takes an outside eye to catch the mistake. Feels like you guys are trying hard to make it better and living to... A Customers Satisfaction Code, like punishment racing or ets.
By the time I get mines #20. I feel confident that all the issues will be resolved and work out, hopefully!

Well, if you're handy with fiberglass (it isn't hard AT ALL) you can probably do it yourself for ~$20 :hellyeah:

You know what you guys are right maybe we shouldn't be saying bad things bout 386 customs, cus after all they did try to make sumthing nice for the DSM community; which alot of after market companies don't really care about anymore. so we have to give them credit for that, and plus alot of companies undergo trial and error before they achieve perfection....... So for now we just going to have to wait and see if they fix their mistakes and end up with a great product in the end ;).

Ps: I would also buy one if it ends up looking like the one in the silver eclipse you guys posted at first.

Lol, well I'm sure the idea is to keep it thin. That way its not all thick and protruding off the back of the bumper.

i agree 110%... the company is trying to do a nice thing... everytime i read a import tuner or super street magazine it makes me mad how there are multiple items for every honda ever made, supras, EVOs, ... and no support or love and mention of DSMs or 3000GTs at all..

i say give them time to fix the imperfections...

For the first time being broke paid off.
Can you be more disappointed in a product? It's like ordering a Russian mail order bride, only to go to the airport and pick up some guy named RuShaun from Nigeria.
If 386 wanted to really make amends, they would refund you your money in full. They knew what they were sending you, and they sent it anyway. Oh now they want you to send back the piece, and they will round off the edges for free. How long will it be before you see it again, another 6 months? And what will they do about it not being level? The car is on a slant my foot.
I'm all annoyed and I didn't even buy the darn thing.

Well you know what. We should be grateful that a company listens to our needs to even make a new product for our cars. You have to realize our cars are old and the market for dsms aren't great like the 90's. Its understandable that the first batch of produces won't be perfect. And at least they are standing behind there product to make it better. Let them make up for their mistakes.

You didn't even buy one? Why are you so concerned then?

I'm sorry, but I have to chime in here. What more can you ask than what 386 is now offering? They said, they will make it right, no matter what. You can't expect them to offer money back because some don't like how it looks. Even with the quality issue, it is undoubtibly designed the way they said it would be. We all knew we were getting in this regard. It is simply the execution that needs some work.

I am very impressed that 386 is working with all of us. No need to bash them when they're still working with their customers.

Well, like everyone else I wanted one. However, the only thing that prevented me from buying one, like I already stated I was broke. But that didn't curb my enthusiasm for this new product, that has been long in coming. I think the people who were able to get in on the group buy, were more than patient with the lack of communication, and the some odd months it took. You would think that after the long wait, the product would have been better. IMO 5 months is plenty of time for trial and error. From the photos, this product looked last minute. Uneven cuts, bumps, waves, rough edges, and paper thin. Wow, that is a lot wrong with something that took so long to develop. Okay let's just use the argument the first 5 will have defects. Okay those 5 should have never been shipped. But they were. This speaks volumes for the ethics of this company. 386 customs may be an excellent company but acting in this unprofessional manor should raise more than a few eyebrows. Free rolled edges isn't enough. How about replacing the product with one free of defects, including free rolled edges and a $20 dollar discount on any up coming purchases with the company. That to me this is a start. Your still left feeling had, but not so much.
I speak mostly from disappointment, due to the fact I wanted one. My point isn't made less valid do to the fact I didn't purchase one.

I see what you mean. You make a good point. I was assuming that you just stumbled upon the thread and jumped in, I didn't realize you wanted one aswell. yeah I'm #11 on the list and curious to see mine, it has been a very very long time, and now I feel its going to take long to fix the imperfections. I have a feeling its going to take another 2 months to get mine.

Sorry,it looks like very cheap stickertuning .....:hmm:

... what kind of tuning is this? :heystupid:

When I saw those first pictures I was pretty upset because I was looking forward to getting one of these someday. But hopefully when you get it back it will be a lot better.

Does anyone else have this lip yet with some pictures?

Nice car by the way Gofer
