Kris, you're saying that you can take a photo at low resolution (72 ppi) and change the resolution value in a photo editing program to a higher resolution value (200 ppi) and it will look the same when printed? I've tried that before and it does not work. If the photo was taken at low resolution, the program has to add pixels and guess how the new pixels will be added, which is what causes the image to be less sharp/low quality when it's printed - this is touched on in the article I linked to. If the photo is taken at a low resolution value, it simply won't print out well no matter what the dimensions are, and the article I linked to explains why.Brian's getting it. Looks like Chris got it on this page.
I'll shoot some L+RAW to see if the displayed resolution in Winblows changes, but unless your calendar is the size of a queen bed, the 72dpi at 48xxx2xxx will properly scale to the 200+ at normal printing sizes.
This made for a good discussion, anyway.
Have you tested this with something other than a home printer? Have you taken something to a printing shop? The only reason I ask is because I did something like this a few years back with a past DSM calendar and it was noticeable.
