So my car went down last month with an electrical issue blowing ignition fuses. I finally found that pesky wire that was grounding out yesterday. While the car was down I replaced the fuel filter, rear o2 sensor and the coolant temp sensor. Now the car cranks over just fine and all but the car won't start :( I've pulled the injectors to make sure they are clean (heard e85 can clog them) and my fpr reads 40 psi and everything seems to be snug and connected.

Thoughts?

I run on e85 if that makes a difference.

E-85 contains ethanol which is harder to ignite when cold. Making cooler starts much more difficult.

Yes, this I know. Before the issues started to roll in it only took cranking it over once or twice to start it up. I cranked it 10 times last night and it wouldn't start, so I don't believe e85 is the culprit.

Oh, I was under the impression that it had started after cranking it for longer then usual. So at this point it would not start at all? Like you said with the e-85 goop issue, how were the injector tips? And you have checked all the relays and such as well for the fuel system?

Relays are good, injectors are clean as ever. Everything sounds great and cranks over normal just doesn't fire up. I'm stumped.

It just doesn't start up.

I'd go back to basics... check for spark, fuel, and compression.

[Btw, DSMP ftw]

Haha hey man.

Yeah, I have been going through all the basic stuff. I'll be checking my plugs this morning I guess, wires are good and all. Typical dsm, go run a great time at the track then on the way home pretty much break down pulling in the driveway haha.

Yeah thats what I would do. If your getting fuel spark and timing is correct then you have all the ingredients for a running dsm.

Yeah, if it starts or if I find anything I'll update this thread.

I had the same problem (well car turning but not starting). The guy I bought the car from rebuilt the motor and they couldn't get it to start. It ended up being they plugged the "Power TR Unit" in backwards. Flipped the connector and the car fires right up.

Well I haven't moved anything except the items I replaced (stated in first post) so I am not sure what the issue is :(

So this was the wire that was grounding out on the bottom of my fpr. I fixed this wire so it doesn't blow ignition fuses anymore but it still just cranks over a bunch and doesn't try and start. I smell fuel after a few tries fyi.

The one on my finger tip...

My car is a 95 so I don't believe it has a crank position sensor but could the cam sensor have fried or something because of this wire being grounded out?

All 2g's have a crank position sensor, unless they have a 6bolt swap. I'd check for spark. If your not getting any spark in any cylinder chances are the cps is fried. Is it throwing a CEL?

-NFDSM from Mitsu-media btw.

I have not checked the MFI relay, I'll do that tomorrow.

My bad, I read a few posts that stated that information and I didn't check anywhere else.

check your CAS and CPS and other sensors that could keep it from starting..
mine wouldnt start, ended up being the CAS

The injectors fire manually but no through the computer, they think (local shop) they have it narrowed down to the ecu. I opened it up and there doesn't appear to be any burn marks and it doesn't smell funny... I'm so stumped.

They said everything in the engine bay and the wires up to the ecu all checked out fine..

I threw in my friends ecu with link, loaded my tune and still won't start. It sounds like it wants to but still doesn't do it, so I ruled out the ecu.

I'm stumped! Any more suggestions? I'm running out of monies!

when u turn the key in the on position does the cel light come on? like it normaly would. you stated that you are getting fuel right ?

Yeah, my fpr reads steady at 40 psi. Everything seems normal, except my car doesn't start :(

You get it figured out yet? I wouldn't be surprised if you just have real E85 still in the tank and its cold out now. once it get's down under 65 out. It gets harder and harder to start Cold especially on a summer blend

Try putting in a few gallons of gas and try again

Forgot to update this, it was a bad coolant temp sensor.
