Has anyone ever tried these workouts?

Me and some friends started a club hockey team at my university, ive been lifting mildly for a few years now. I havent played steady hockey for about 3 years and since our season has started and we are practicing and playing games i was looking to improve my cardio, leg strength, flexibility and overall energy.

Im 5' 9", 170. Athletic/Muscular build.

INSANITY <- if youve never heard of it.

Ive talked too 3 people about P90X, i have gotten mixed reviews.

I havent ran into anyone who has personally done INSANITY.

Any thoughts guys?

Getting in shape is not an 60 day event. I had my own mixture of extreme workouts while I was in Afghanistan. This seems like a quick gimmick. And the fact that they are charging $25.00 for shipping convinces me more that it is a gimmick.

I lost 15 lbs within the first 3 months of my workout (200 lbs to 185 lbs), but that doesn't tell the whole story because I was also very quickly adding muscle, which weighs more then fat. From there I kept gaining more muscle faster then I was losing fat and I went to 215 lbs (20 lbs of muscle) in about 6 months time frame from when I started. I was on extreme workouts that sometimes lasted over 2 hours, I was on a killer mixture of supps and keeping a VERY strict diet.

Here is the only pictures of my results. Never mind the motivator, it was my attempt at benching 300 lbs and I failed, my second attempt I blew out my shoulder and have not been in the gym as I can barely incline-bench the bar without my shoulder popping like popcorn and sending sharp pains in my back/upper arm. I still have not recovered from the injury. It was dumb of me. I pushed 275 lbs one week and the next was over-confident and jumped to 300 lbs. If I have given it more time I'd probably be WAY past the 300lbs mark today.

Also a picture of my tat to prove it is me.

Listen to Sean- but I can tell you from PERSONAL experience and from the experience of several of my friends. P90x works and it works VERY WELL. Just follow the diet as well and I guarantee results to you. bitrorrent, cough bittorrent..

You can do p90 as i've heard some good results from it however getting big/fit is 90% what you do in the kitchen after and before you go to the gym.

Do HIIT (High intensity interval training) where its like doing 60/30s (run for 60, sprint for 30) for like 15 minutes 2-3 days a week for your cardio plus the fat should fly off

Stick to basic movements; ie: bench, deadlifts, squats and other free weight movements

Flexibility comes by your own will to stretch in the mornings and post workout, but none of this can be accomplished if you go home and smoke a carton of cigarettes and eat hoho's after you train LOL

And as mentioned above, it takes time; dont rush, eat 1g protien per lb of bodyweight and you'll be set.

The one thing that sticks out when i look at these workouts, is the fact that they have a very big fat burning, shredding un-needed weight areas.

Im already a very muscular person, i dont need to lose weight, at all!

Maybe i should just sit down and make my own routine, like i usually do, just add some cardio and change up my strength training.

hmmm....

P90x is a awesome program, haven't done insanity yet but I plan on it. There is a whole guide telling you have to rotate the workouts for what gains you are looking for. Follow the diet, don't skip a day and you'll be good.

haha my oldest bro justs got that along with my dad hahah ironically my dad is about 5'9 220 (a lot of it is muscle) out of shape and he can do it fine
my half brother is 5'11 225 all muscle and he teaches mhuey thai and he can do it but he cant do anything all day after words
It all depends on what your genetics are. They both have good genetics for lifting and gaining weight
If you haven't done anything similar you might have a rough time getting used to it but if you keep doing

but I used to play hockey and what my coach had us do for our calfs which you might do them already but they help allot with speed are toe raises with weights

Never been a fan of any videos, like speed demon I made my own personal workout lifting weights and got on a strick diet and went from 5'10" 200lbs down to 177 in about 3 months and my bench went from 185X10 after 2 warm up sets to 245X10. Never been a 1 rep max kind of person. Eat lots of healthy protein and just stick to it everyday, best advice is that it is like a marathon and not a sprint. Start off somewhat hard then increase workouts as time goes on and never give up.

thats basically what my bro does he eats right he is active but he is just naturally strong and is naturally huge
I can get stronger quick but it takes a while to be able to gain mass

I have it and used to be very serious about it....I got into it and had good results from it....it will whoop your ass if you know how to push yourself....wrestling gave me that ability to go past my mental limits and reach the physical....working out comes natural after you have been through something similar to wrestling.

I did P90X for about 2.5 months and now I'm starting Insanity (into my 2nd week). I like certain things about both programs. As far as I can tell right now, I love the cardio that comes with Insanity, and love the upper body/core workout with P90X. I am planning on mixing in the two programs into my own routine relatively shorty.

I'm also using Nature's Research Whey Protein, as recommended by a friend.
