So I bought a apexi safcII off my buddy for a good price and decided that the cheap bracket didnt do the unit justice. I also didnt like it sitting by my vents nor did I like that people could look in my car and easily see it. I dont need another reason for people to break into my car. I also like stuff easy which would toss out the idea of putting it in the glove box every time I get out of the car.

So here is what I did..on a budget too. I went to the salvage yard and bought a power antenna motor. Cut off about 80% of the antenna just leaving the biggest/lowest portion. Found some piping that would slide snugly over the antenna piece. Then I attached the plastic cord that moves the antenna up and down to the top of the assembly. Mounted safc to antenna. Whats nice is that the motor stops on its own when it feels tension. So i made upper and lower limits out of metal and attached them to the pipe. To prevent the safc from pivoting while up i made a support for the other side of the safc. Then i cut the dash using a laser level and attached the wiring to the turbo timer. So now everytime i turn the car on it goes up...and when the turbo timer turns off it goes back down, 100% automatic and hidden. Its still not done, i have to fix the cover and either paint it or get some carbon fiber. But i just wanted to post this because it took a few weeks and some daydreaming during class. Here are some pics and vids. which explain it better than I can. Total cost of parts was about $25. Hope ya like

Oh and on a side note. I had to cut about a 3 inch gap in the center vents BUT even with the fans on low, air still comes out very well so i was pretty glad about that.

-not my cup of tea-

sorry for the crap pics and vids but that all i have for now

Great idea. I might have to do something like that with the in the spyder.

yea thats what i'm workin on now. I went to the salvage yard and cut out a section of dashboard vinyl. So i may overlay it with that depending on the thickness. Or I may paint it with the stock grey color paint. Or get a piece of CF or buy a knock off CF sticker idk yet

Good job on the creativity and fab. I dont have the balls to cut a hole in my dash.

love it. i like it better than any of the other one that i have seen

out of site and out of mind, good job man, i woundnt cut up my dash unless i had a master plan LOL
