Just looking around for some parts for my spare block build and i found this. Anybody?

It never really says what brand they are, and rod bolts are not pictured.

Aside from the usual "ebay is crap" comment, I would never put an unknown brand in my motor. The cost and time to build a motor is far too valuable to chance with no-name connecting rods. My suggestion would be to ask the vendor who manufactures these rods.

+1 find out who makes them then decide if its worth the hassle of another rebuild when they break. Be careful some ebay dealers will sell fakes as the real thing.

Another thing to consider is the lack of rod bolts, they are quite expensive for the ARP bolts. Replacing the rod bolts in the wifes Crower rods cost me $88, or $11 ea. Which makes these "cheap" rods on par with a set of Eagles/Manley/Scat.

thanks for the reply. I scored some evo 9 pistons with rings and rods for cheap so that's going in the block. Im also not a fan of remanufactured or reground crankshafts. I found this 280384232798 on ebay and was wondering if its any good or atleast safe for my build? I contacted the seller and he said that these are BNEW and came from their factory. What do you guys think?

anybody thinks this is ok to use on a rebuild?

if they are not a known name brand, i would watch it there is alot of scammer manufacturers out there, they look like eagle H beam's but its hard to tell from ebay.

I personally would not use it.I am a cheapass too.I think buying moving parts off ebay is a bad idea.Intakes and strut bars and stuff like that I will buy off ebay but no internals unless its a real name brand.

FYI, the Evo 8 piston/rod combination is not a direct drop-in, as there is an offset on the wristpin. You will enjoy destroyed rods and crank very quickly if you just drop them in as they will machine themselves into the proper offset they require at the cost of your rods, rod bearings, and crank.

They can be used IF you take into account the proper offset required with a bit of machinework, and you may need to change the wrist pin retaining design (press fit vs. floating).

I was told by the seller that this is a direct drop in. also a guy here built one using the evo 9 piston/rods and he didn't have to do anything. What is the deal?

the dsm grave uses evo 9 piston in some of there short blocks. they also said there rods and pistons are a direct bolt in's. thedsmgrave also sells the correct rings to make them work, correctly.and if you are doing a cheap rebuild find a set of 1g rods.
