As soon as I have extra cash kicking around, I will. Problem is... cash wont be kicking around for a while. I think I might just put the car back on 92 octane and pick up an older Explorer or Cherokee.

Im surprised I went this long without busting a tcase or axle.

Just fix the trans and leave it on e85. Just don't drive in tell the weekend.:D

Brian, you know that when I drive, I drive. I have the work truck that I drive 90% during the week. The Galant is mostly a weekend warrior as it is.

Besides, Im sick of 70 mile round trips for E85 and having to stock up. 24 gallons only lasts me a week.

70 mile round trips for e85? That's exactly what I would have to do to get it. Ugh. I'll stick with meth injection. ROFL

Meth is always an option for me. Cheap and easy. Just before I got my car done, both of the stations near me closed down. They were both within 10 miles! For the last few months Ive been told by that company that they are working on getting a station up and running within the next few weeks. Im not counting on that. Its going back to 92 octane... unless I get something else to drive.

get a couple 55 gallon drums and fill them up.:thumb: Nearest e85 station for me is 121miles round trip, I'm sticking with 92 until more open up here.

I'm sticking with e85. Nearest e85 stations for me 2.3miles and 3.1miles away. Its good to live so close:D

Oh look what I did friday night

Hey, GTFO, this is my thread. LOL

Did you source a new tcase yet?

I need to talk Nick or Ryan to get to the track next weekend so us VR4 guys can keep the streak alive. :tease:

Going to Woodburn? I told Jeff I would try to make the drive down there.

Nah, PIR. Its just right across the river from us in Portland. Maybe you should try your luck!

Don't think they will like my cracked windshield, too much, doesn't obstruct my view though. I'm finally putting my E3 16g on this week and a rust free fuel tank, I picked up from Paul, so we'll see.

Turns out I broke 3rd. That then took out the center diff, intermediate shaft, double cone 3/4. And I think that was it.

Time to take things back down a notch.

My car stripped all the teeth off the third gear doing a pull which took out about every thing else in the tranny. Did the gear crack, teeth strip off, or a little of both? I tried cryo treating everything inside the tranny I have now which has held up so far. What were you doing when it broke?

I havent seen the carnage myself yet.

I was at the track. I got blocked out of 3rd gear for a while, it finally went in, was in gear for about a second, and it let go.

I think my next good tranny build will consist of an Evo3 gearset.

Sounds like a good idea. I haven't run into any of those problems...yet that is. I just put up with replacing everything that is rusted and beyond salvagable, which has been everytìng on the rear suspension. I was the one a few months back on gvr4.org that had the trailing arm shock mount failure due to rust. Just glad it made it here from Va, with only one issue that worked itself out (two days spent on the shoulder jack stand frontin' in Montana is a bit frustrating). So far money has been spent half restoring other on upgrades. I think my tax return next year will be spent on the motor or trans.

I probably won't make it down in time sat for the track. I snapped off the turbo oil feed banjo bolt to the head, while installing the 16g last night. New bolt will be here tomorrow. Play it by day.

Yeah, there really is no planning ahead of time with these cars. You just never know what is going to fail next.

But for some unknown reason, we keep going back for more.

so much for the 16g, siezed, calling English tomorrow. All three green cars are broke now, LOL

I seized up a 16g as well. WTF is going on? Whered you get yours from?

I had the DSM 1st gear.

I'm not sure, I'm back to square one again. I got it off galantvr4.org. I will post some pics up later. I talked to Aaron at English, turbo is beyond rebuild and sure enough when pulled it apart.

Raptor.. I have another 16g that was bought from English about 5k miles ago if your interested. How is that fuel tank working out? Also I have transfer cases if anyone needs any still.

Thanks,
Paul T.

PS. my white one is only a couple hours away of work from running again (yeah!!)

I'll pm you about that turbo, on a budget right now and the 16g going pretty much screwed everything. I haven't gotten around to installing the tank yet. I still have to soak my stock fitting with pb blaster and hope they come off with ease, maybe next weekend.
Here's whats left the 16g
