I am currently building a Triumph TR6 with a 302 and I am trying to come up with a rear axle design. I really want to use the following CV joint, but I can't find a place to purchase this exact one. It is listed as coming out of a 90-94 1.8L Eclipse (NTN design) -- it seems most place have the NSK design which has a different diameter and therefore won't fit. Ideally I would like to just buy the cv joints but it seems I will have to buy the whole axle, which is ok if someone could help point in a direction to find this exact joint.

I know this is an extremely old post, but the obscurity of it makes me want to respond. Also, it somewhat pertains to a problem I am currently having, so a discussion on the topic might find a solution for myself as well. Anyways, here it goes;

This obviously would be for the front axles as the vehicle you are asking about is FWD. I can check the part numbers when I get home, but an interesting fact is that ANY 1g dsm could come with NTN front axles. Mitsubishi used two suppliers for their axles during the production of these vehicles. To indicate which one is which, Mitsubishi had NSK axle CV joints painted green, and NTN axle cv joints painted "dark green" which was more of an olive color.

For your specific problem, might I suggest buying a dead front axle for a turbo DSM that has dark green cv joints and measuring it up. You should be able to find them for cheap, although properly identifying them may be challenging. Also, it would appear that something over the years has happened with NTN. Mitsubishi does not supply replacement CV boots for the NTN axles, and the only solution they provide if you do have NTN axles is to buy a new NSK axle. If you have NSK axles (most people do) then you can buy new boots.

If anyone has pictures to compare I would like to see a side by side of the two colors. I haven't been able to find any online, but I know I've seen both over the past decade and remember holding a pair side by side at one point and wondering why the color was so different.
