I've spend the past 6 hours replacing the struts on my Talon since the previous owner/s lowered the car using the factory shocks and no bump stops:nono:. Of course, now the struts are blown out. But the kicker is that the right rear lower strut mount bolt seized and snapped off:aha:. Now I have knuckle off and I'm going to put it in the drill press and get the bolt out. But on the plus side, I found out the I need to fix my rear brakes now before they failed......ugh!!!

I'm determined that majority of previous DSM owners were broke teenagers and now they are people that actually want to see these cars continue on.

End Rant.

Anyone have wonderful oversights from previous owners? WTF

that sucks. sound like they never worked on a car before or use to own a crx. LOL the previous of my car didnt know how to work on it. kinda of a plus.(not really) and painted it a really ugly blue. the stock dark blue is a much better color. so at least all the maintenance will be done and done right. no more napa timing belt. and i some one had a riced out wing out it too. thanks now i need a new hatch... i also have no exterior trim either ...

LOL .. there is some truth there... the reason why i still havent found a DSM worth buying in overr a year and had to settle for a FREAKING subaru :ohdamn:

Hmm what comes to mind when I think of MY previous owner?

Nt 6 bolt swap.
Extra long Oil pan bolt under crank sprocket...
Tranny held in by 3 finger tight bolts
Silver tranny fluid
Improperly gapped plugs
warped rotors
Improperly grounded headunit causing my car to just about start on fire
JB weld ALL over the roller mount
Fart can
Crashed over a curb
Flat tire
Dayum

Yeah I can't believe people lower their car with stock shocks, if they did a little research they would know that's not such a good idea. I see kids do it all the time with their civics

My previous owner blew up the engine and then cast the car out into a field to sit for three years before I came along and snatched it up.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the door cladding just about fell off the car the other day, I tried to take it off when I realized they had put screws though it into the door and then fiber glassed and painted over it. I can't see that fiber glassing over it would have been easier than putting new molding tape and clips on it. Oh, and they used liquid nails to hold it on along with the screws....WTF!!!

when I bought my 91 there were all kinds of issues with it.

Bad ECU, 7 quarts of oil in it. Wrong oil filter, trans held on by one bolt. missing bolts on cross member.
needless to say I had a lot to fix.

When I bought my '92 Talon AWD 2 years ago,-now sold- the MAF was bad, the knock-sensor harness was cut, an injector was bad, the timing belt has a gash in it, dead ECU and the line for the CBV and the crankcase ventilation were crossed. Epic fail. A few calls later and some used parts, that car was rock-solid reliable for me for two winters.

I had a 90 talon awd i bought from a junkyard for 500 bucks. Swapped the motor and it ran GREAT for about 3 months.

WELL....my timing belt snapped and decided to part it out. I $hit you not the front right shock was broken on the inside and the entire cylinder pulled out, the underside of the car was like swiss cheese and the transfer case was literally cracked the entire way around the yoke and where the shaft from the trans mates with it. Im not sure how it even went anywhere.

There was another car that ran awesome, good body, strong motor, and decided to build up the bottom end. As i remove the oil pan i see frozen to the bottom a 10mm wrench. Not sure HOW it got in there or how it didnt get eaten, but i wouldnt have ever known unless i changed the oil pan gasket!

Let's see here.
JB Weld holding T-Stat housing together
'90 Tranny & TCase on '91
Low fluid in tranny
Splitfire Spark Plugs instead of NGK
Magnacore Wires w/ cuts - used JB Weld and electrical tape to 'fix' it
Rear spoiler held on by rear wiper
Piss poor job wiring in boost gauge
Stuck caliper
Wire cut on ECU harness
ECU had bad caps
Vacuum leaks all over the place
Reverse would randomly not work

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to fix this poor car up.

Well, I finally got the car back together tonight. The car feels 100 times better now. When I got the car, the trans was out, half the bolts were missing. The guy pulled the trans ### the center diff broke. I had to fabricate a MAF adapter since the outer house was gone and the filter was just sitting there. The turbo was wasted so I got another factory one for cheap. CV boots were torn. Tires were smoked. I did a timing belt, valve cover gaskets, crank seal, clutch...I think that was all. I just got done putting in a FIAV block off plate too. Fun fun. But I like the car.
