Yea. A holset failure now has to now go through holset authentication even to be seen as a holset failure. Sucks really. Free market ftl :notgood:

Your REAL holset will have to prove itself. At least we know it's real. . .

i think if i can get away with buying that one you listed dsm-onster for like 1$ with free shipping,i am gonna do it. NOT TO USE IT!!! but just to see exactly the differences between real and fake so we can explain a bit more as to why NOT to buy these. good idea or bad idea? what do you guys think? ### right now it is .01$ with free shipping.
strictly for testing purposes as it will never be resold by me or go on a car...:D i don't feel like paying much more then pocket change for it though since it will be used for just research purposes.
anyone?

More counterfit boldness. Thanx to SkylinesSuck for the heads up.

Maybe that "procurement information" was saying they could get genuine Holsets from the Wuxi plant along with other brands from other turbocharger plants in Wuxi.

Some other Wuxi turbo plants (non-Holset):

Wuxi Hosel Turbocharger Manufacturing Co., Ltd
Wuxi Mingzhu Turbocharger Manufacturing Co.Ltd
Wuxi Turbo Auto Power Co., Ltd.(Hobest Turbocharger Works)
Wuxi Tonglint Industries Co., Ltd
JRONE TECHNOLOGY(WUXI)CO.,LTD
Wuxi Wandi Foundry Co.,ltd
Wuxi Jiashun Turbocharger Manufactory

Just to name a few... and most of them make a turbo very similar to the Holset ones.

I know I'm new and somewhat late to the party, but I was looking through the thread and took a look at the Holset site and found this pdf. http://www.myholsetturbo.com/images/holsetcounterfeitprevention.pdf It has pictures to help people (people like me) figure out what a fake turbo looks like when compared to an original.

On a side note, this site really helped me find the info I was looking for. A lot of intelligent individuals here.

LOL, There is no winning on E-bay. They make replica's of EVERYTHING.

Is it a twin scroll turbine housing? That's harder to make. . . It's a t3 boltpattern at the inlet. . .

There's a compressor surge port cover and the actuator looks legit. That's alot of manufacturign money to sink in to a $300 fake. . .

That compressor inlet still looks like no hx40 I've ever seen.

Serial on a real one.

Yes it is a twin scroll turbine housing with T3 inlet..

Well, Holsets are English;)

Let's nip this in the bud. There's a difference in namesake and forgery. Give the consumer with 1/2 of his brain in coherence a chance to buy what he really wants. IF he wants to take a chance thats fine. They should call it an "hx40 GT" however. Not lie.

Holy cow I think I found some interweb portal OMG ... I followed your link which took me to another link which brought me back to this link :D

Lmfao

That's funny. Didn't see it that way :p

Just letting everyone who reads THIS thread that I posted this information in the latest holset info thread. LOTs of people look at that thread. Many non-members or new members.

Look at the top of the wastegate acuator (see how its indented) then look at the link to holsets counterfit prevention page(post 80 on page 3).My turbo has nx on it also but your compressor wheel looks small and the wastegate is a giveaway to a fake.

Hey guys I was wondering if my Holset H1e looks to be the real thing. I bought it about a year ago from a member who was parting his eclipse to fund his sti. Here are some pics. It already has the BEP bolt-on housing installed in the pictures. When I bought it, the guy had told me that it was brand new and that it had cost 1100 dollars with the housing. Thanks for any input

The turbo is already on the car so I am not able to measure it. If I was to take it off I probably could. I am switching manifolds so maybe I will be able to measure it then. What exactly are the MWE grooves? It is in a Bullseye housing so hopefully its an H1e LOL.
