How dedicated are you to DSM's?
Our first DSM, me and my husband (my1gdsm), drove to montana from washington to buy a 1g that he found on Ebay.......and by the way I was 7 1/2 months pregnant with our now 4 year old, which i was not supposed to leave town at that point...oops. Well we got stuck at an ER in spokane, for a few hours and we still went on our way to get the 1g. after we got the 1g, we then drove back over lookout pass, in like 8 inches of snow ! while I was then driving a fwd hyuandai tiberon, well I made him pull over and switch me cars cuase I was gettin passed by semi's. Anyways I'd say thats dedication, well more like addiction for him ;). But what would you do for your DSM ?

I would bend all my valves then go in a bunch of debt then have My1GDSM come over and fix it because I'm too lazy.LOL.But seriously I have spent every dime I have made for the past year on my DSM plus more money that I havent made yet.I am like a DSM addict. My car will never be done I always think I am about done it never works like that.:banghead:

Ive debated on selling mine and then buying another one once im back from saudi. Try to find one with lower miles on the body. This will be my 4th DSM owned (90 laser, 97 GSX, 95 TSI Awd, I want a 99 with low miles

saved up for 4 months bought my 2g cash..2 months later timing belt ripped trashing my head..re did head ect...1day after fixing it crank pulley ripped off the sprocket damaging alot off components lucky didnt skip timing...re did timing belt job reaplaced pulley ect ..2 months later crank sensor fell off chewing up timing belt lucky again didint jump timing..re did timing belt job again new sensor ect..month later t25 gave out..repaced with 16 g..a week later blew HG..replaced it wit commetic on the side of the road in 105 weather took me 2 days with just a simple socket set couldn't afford to tow it home..after all this i still love my DSM!!!

I put 3 4G63s into my 1G gsx then got rid of the chassis and got myself a 2G gst. The engine went by overheating and then I fully rebuilt my 6 bolt and swapped it in now I have a 2G looks with 6 bolt action. I get my cake and eat it too! :D

Drove 2700 miles with my Talon on a flat bed on the back of a Uhaul from Alaska to Tacoma WA all becuase i dident want those TMO bastards to ship my car and #### it up. a cracked windshield, rock chips galore a dirty ass car and 2700 miles later.. I MADE IT! :barf:

Drove from WA, to CO to visit a friend and put on a bunch of parts that I had shipped to his house. Spun a rod bearing in WY, stayed there 2 days rented a Uhaul and trailer which is near impossible at age 23, finished the drive to CO.

Went from putting on a e316 plus mods, to a 2.4L and MUCH MUCH more.

Shipped it back to WA. Took about 1 year total.

Luckily I have an amazing woman to let me do things normal people without a DSM wouldn't do. (SANE people).

Had a friend drive me 563 miles from Southern Indiana to Central Wisconsin to pick up my TSi AWD. Paid $7500 cash when I arrived, never drove the car, just went by how it sounded in his garage and how experienced the seller was at building/modifying DSM's. I actually trusted the car to make it back 563 miles without a problem. Which it did, luckily. :hellyeah: 2 days after making it home it blew a crank seal, spilling 2 quarts of oil in a matter of minutes. Good thing it didn't happen in Wisconsin :thumb:

Flew to Idaho and drove it back. Sold many possessions to feed the addiction during builds...

Put my self in debt and made my credit score drop because of that POS. I am still paying for it, and it is parked on the driveway broken again. I will one day burn that thing. :D

Drive from Calgary to Mt. Rushmore, get held up at gunpoint by customs officers (mistaken identity), import it back into Canada, have some more customs officers root through it for an hour (because I got it so cheap), jump through all of the hoops to get it legally imported/registered here in Canada. But I end up with a truly unique car, the ONLY 99 GSX in Alberta... let the upgrades begin

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. Sure, I drove a few cities over (well more like 100 miles) to find and pick up my DSM after month's of searching for a decent, 100% original low milage turbo Eclipse. And I've been known to drop thousands of dollars at a time on the car. But honestly, while I love the car, I'm not a tremendously brand loyal kinda guy. I'm not gonna own dozens of DSM's in my life, I'm not gonna tattoo the diamond star on my body :p or punch someone in the face everytime someone whose tragically misinformed tells me an Integra will beat my Eclipse becuase Eclipses are "heavy cars". I own a tuned 300E Mercedes, two Z cars, an old Corvette with a twin turbo kit, and my DSM. You can tell from my eclectic collection of vehicles I'm not the "I'll do anything for my Eclipse" kinda guy... I'll wait for the hate mail

But you'll order knuckles from overseas to put some brakes on....:p

J/k

I'm not too over the top either, as much as I love it, its just as much a hate relationship.

I would much rather sell it (don't let her know I said that, shhhh, she's sleeping) and get an Evo and be done.

But I have already got so enough money into this SOB, I might as well keep going.

I think youre right with the love hate idea. the problem is, you have said dsm..... its breaks down.... you get pissed and sell it.... . then you miss it and want it back so you buy another one..... and it all starts over! that is the life of a dsmr:ohdamn:
