Hey guys, I just recently got another dsm (the car in my profile is the one I had 3 years ago) and I'm in the market for a FMIC. Problem is, I can't find the same XSpower core that I bought years ago anywhere!@ They must have discontinued it since I've been out of the game but does anyone know where I can get a core nowadays with similar dimensions at an affordable price?:hmm:

get the ssac or vrspeed fmic kit. Best fmic kit for the price

Enjoy your cooling issues :)

I have that VRSF core and it's huge! Had to cut bumper and took out radiator plastic piece and haven't had any cooling issues. All I noticed was my needle moved up slightly on the guage by a hair. Even during WOT it's stable. BUT, not everyone is as lucky...

Yea I have no cooling issues with mine plus i have a external oil cooler right infront of the passanger side of the radiator.

Looks like SSautochrome made the core for DSM's much bigger but I see they have this core marketed for VW's....would it fit on a 2gb? The dimensions are 23.5x12x3

That's like my exact front mount from SSAC. Fits on my car fine.

He has an ebay store also. ETD motors.

I have had his FMIC for 2 years running 28 psi. Excellent quality FMIC & piping kit with bead rolled edges, t-bolt clamps and 3-4 ply couplers.

I got a 29 x 11 x 3 FMIC & universal piping kit for about $300.

Don't get me wrong but it seems a bit silly to pay almost $300 for a kit that includes universal intercooler piping. For a few bucks more you could save hours of time and not run into the problem of having 3 or 4 extra couplers to blow off :)

I really don't see why people get 12" intercoolers when 80% of DSMers never pass the "50 trim phase." and/or make more than 400whp. A 7-10" intercooler is more than enough and will make the car response better than a 12"

Just my .02 cents.

Agreed 100%... but to defend some of the people that have them (improperly chosen and way oversized FMIC's) i would have to guess that most people aren't informed or are too mis-informed to know how to properly pick a core, or to know that the sizing of your intercooler (and it's piping) is almost as important to performance as correctly choosing your wheels when picking your turbo.

but, someday we might be so fortunate as to wash away all the fast, furry and JDM from the import scene enough to clearly see where the line stands between show and real go

this post is in no way meant to bash or knock the OP or any other posters... But honestly the only real thing that kept popping into my mind was how that thing is way too big and probably doesn't cool as good as it looks while it blocks off the air to your radiator and condensor LOL LOL
