Today at work I had a 95 eagle summit lx come in with a bad tranny noise. The customer felt that the car holds no use to him anymore and I purchased it for $100. The van already has a 4g64 in it that runs really nice. What are the pros and cons on a awd conversion, possibly a 4g63 swap.

Dont quote me on this info, but i think the 4g63 does swap in. I almost wanna say people have done it, built them and have some decent numbers and extremely sleeper looking vehicle.

Some Eagle Summits came AWD, is yours?

Unfortunately no. There is very little info on these vans on the internet so awd'ing it may be a problem. Rumor has it that a 2g gst drive train will bolt right up, relocating the fuel tank and exhaust.

When I told the guy I would buy it, that's what I was thinking. Sleeper, fast grocery getter.

I know you can put a 4g63 head on a 4g64, you could always get left over stock 2g parts , turbo it and have a nice little turbo van.

Actually across seas they were called rvr's and they came with 4g63ts so its possible to put a 4g in - i read somewhere that a lot of our jdm motors come out of them

the dodge/plymouth colt vista came out in 1984 in the states, it had seating for up to seven passengers, I own an 1987 one, it's basicly an early evo wagon without the twin cam head or the turbo.they came with the g63b block mitsu truck motor. the vista was offered in awd in 1985.they stoped making the vista/summit in 1996 and the summit was not released untill the early 90s.

check this out on you tube type in the search words [mitsubishi nimbus 4g63 dohc efi] of course the one shown is not a turbo 4g63 but still it shows it can fit in an early vista.:thumb::thumb:

I almost bought a awd version. I drove to Oklahoma from Nebraska to pick it up from a dealership. it looked good in the pics but when I arrived i saw that the pics they sent me didnt have a huge dent in them and the rust. Also it was having some electrical problems as the headlights dash lights brake lights radio and god knows what else was wrong with it. It was not the fuses and the techs didnt know either. they wanted $3500 as is and was almost still going to over look these until I took it for a test drive.
Now keep in mind that I own a 1989 mirage turbo that has stuff done to it and has seen the north side of 180mph. this thing at 50 felt unsafe!! I know that it needed shocks but it was sooo top heavy and almost rolled on the entrance ramp to the interstate. I talked to the sales guy, calmly, I didnt kill him, even though I wanted to and felt that no jury would convict me, I got my down-payment back and drove the long drive back to Omaha.

long story short I wouldnt make it too fast it felt too top-heavy even with new shocks I had to pass.
