anyone have pictures of the difference of 95/97 vs the newer 98/99 blocks?

thanks! is there anyway to tell if you have a 95-97 block sitting right next to a 98/99? like casting numbers

i thought i read some one say that the 95-97 have a skinnier thrust bearing journal then the 98/99 do is that true?

I just received your old block today.
The bores are in excellent condition as you stated, and the main bearings really show no signs of excessive wear. :thumb:

The thrust washer fits into the machined relief in the block shown here.

The two parallel ends of the thrust washer sit about flush with the parting line and lock against the girdle main cap.

The thrust washer must be thicker than the step in the girdle main cap, or we'd have real issues.

Below is a pic taken directly from CAPS.
It clearly shows the Thrust Washers on the block side of the crank, and one on each side of the journal.
