I am not sure were to pu this. There is alot of fabbed parts :).
Uhm, I am going to make another go at it this summer. Maybe I can keep it running longer this time.
I finished my motor. I have a few things to sort out still, but nothing big. I still need front rotors and a 2G AWD Trans Mount, but hopefully I will get those in the next day or two.
The motor is sitting on the stand at my work. I am working on it my spare time at work so it is hit or miss on when exactly it will be done.
The new motor turned out real good, every clearence measured dead nuts were I wanted. The head came out good and I am pretty excited. The motor turned over real smooth by hand before the timing side was put together. The springs are pretty stiff though so that tightened it up a good bit.

Paul, I bought it after you did. What did you do to the bottom mounts to fit the 1G rad?
First, I cut the existing mounting pegs off flush. Then set the radiator in place and used a paint marker to push straight through the car's mounts to mark exactly where the new pegs needed to be. Then it was a matter of taking some short pieces of 1/4" aluminum round stock and welding them where my marks were. Pretty simple and it fits perfectly.

Wow that's a clean shop, what company's dealership? =P

Looks like a solid setup man, good job! I'd be afraid to pound on it with that manifold being so close to the radiator.

I work at a Toyota Dealership... Our shop stays very clean. One of the porters cleans all the floors with this machine he rides on every night. A/C, 2 lifts per tech and more, gravy:)

Dont tell my DSM, but that is not RTV. It is Toyotas F.I.P.G. 102, aka gasket maker. Every time I do a oil pan reseal, timing cover reseal or even just some valve cover gaskets, they give me a whole fresh tube of it.

WOW, crazy ss lines and an fittings! Car looks good, really clean.

Tuck the cruise cable under the JMF SMIM, it will look cleaner.

So you work there and you basically get paid to work on your car?

No, tech's make money from jobs like swapping an engine. That would take 12-16 book hours for most cars. Some people can get it done in 4. Sometimes it takes 20 hours.(if your a retard and broke/forgot something...multiple times)
They get paid what the book says for how many hours, regardless of how long it takes them.

No I work on my car in my spare time (when it is slow). I have the advantage of being in a shop enviroment. When you turn wrenches for a living, you will find it is hard to pull you free shit in and work on it sometimes.

That is a non cruise throttle cable. I never thought of tucking it...

Flat rate is what is is called. IE, a 99 Camry/2.2 4cyl. R&R a motor in one pays 12 hours typically. If you have the new motor already and have have done one before it id a 4-6 hour thang...

Very clean ride and a nice setup! Do you have a HP goal/estimate in mind? Also I was wondering what kind of fuel you're going to be running, looks like pump + meth? I think I saw a methanol tank under the hood, if so what kind of boost and what kind of timing numbers are you planing to run?

Reason i ask is that before i got mine people kept telling me i'd get race gas AFR's and Almost as good of timing as running 110 leaded but i wasn't able to get anywhere near those levels and i've been tuning cars on pump and race fuels for years (never mesed with meth till i bought my kit) Now i'mrunning e85 and no matter what i try when i go back to pump + meth the car just feels like a dog again at the same boost levels and with the best tune i can pull out of it. Sometimes i miss when i worked at the nissan dealership as a wrench years back.. I'd stay late every day to put my car on the lift, pull things off and polish them etc... That was 13 years ago and although i have more tools and machines then i did back then, now i'm cramped in a one bay garage and forced to use jackstands and a jack and lay on my back and roll in dirt, oil and metal shavings that have blown out the door from the lathe and mill LOL

Anyway enough rabling... lets hear from more about it!!!

The car is running, I just have to tighten up some loose ends before I can go to the track and get some vids.

Really looks good I have the same car. A 1997 tsiawd same color and everything. I want to see it running so I can live vicariously through ya;-) I'm hoping to get mine going this winter. Doing a built 2.0 with a JMF drag q45 and gt42-76 etc...

I want to see it run!!

^^^

Yes it is. The reason 2g people use them is that it moves the upper hose more towards the passenger's side.
