My car shouldn't feel slow, but it does....

Hey guys, my dsm feels pretty slow... I thought it was quick when I bought it, but now it seems slow after I have tuned and put a few bolt ons..

I put on...

2.5in ss 02 housing
14b
Megan 3" dp
Thermal 3" catback
Autogauge boost, pyro,
Innovate wideband LC-1
Dsm link v2.5 1995 eprom..... I am using ECM link with the 2.5 chip
B&M afpr
Walbro 255
5in core FMIC, 2.5in hardpiping
newer stock clutch, I know it is not slipping... broken in
Stock injectors, afpr set to 43psi at idle no vacuum connected.
I am currently running 17psi but in 4th and 5th high rpm it goes to 20, I cant control the boost creep anymore.

My Afr is 11.0:1 wot
Cruise is 14.0-14.3:1

My total timing at wot 5000-6800 is about 18*
At 18* I get about 4 degrees knock retard, I added fuel but afr goes rich and knock stays.
I plan on pulling 3 degrees advance.

I can post up a 3rd gear pull if it would help, My intake temps suck and I have a heat sheild and everything. :toobad:

Why would my 99 GSX feel sluggish with this setup?

my car make a solid 10psi, until I get to about 5k then it goes to 17psi, I think i have a boooooost leak.

I will make a tester and see where it is leaking at <5000rpm... I hope its not valve cover or injectors.

Yea feeling slow is no good, especially when you have the parts to cruise. I would vote for the boost leak test.

Do a boost leak test....
Use meth/water injection to control knock..

I use 100% meth but to each his own.
I have zero knock at 27 psi and 90 octane gas.
I know another Dsmer 474 HP 50trim @31 psi stock intake meth injection pump gas.

20psi on stock injectors is not good. What base fuel pressure are you running them at? Since you have the 255 pump, I would turn the base pressure up to 49-50psi, to stretch the injectors a bit more. You will need to remove 7% from the Global Fuel to compensate for that.
The other issue is your timing. As you can see, the ECU is having to pull timing because of the knock, which is what is making your car feel slow. What octane do you run? The 2G maps are very conservative, and can tolerate more timing in the midband rpm's, but depending what octane you run I have found you can't add too much at the higher rpm's without water/meth injection or some kind of octane booster.

You're used to it now, that's why it doesn't feel fast anymore. Most of the time mine doesn't feel that fast to me either anymore (except the times when it spins and gets sideways in 2nd gear).

My inj duty is only like 88% with the fuel pressure at 43-44psi idle no vacuum.

The B&M doesnt compensate for vacuum at idle for some stupid reason. So with or without vacuum hooked up its 43.

Found two good sized boost leaks, one on the bov flange weld and one on the intake pipe weld on the throttlebody flange.

They both probably need to be rewelded, my system doesnt hold any boost, like I pressureize it and it leaks out within a second. I am surprised that it even makes the 17psi at 5k that it does.
