Don't hate on the 3.8 I see grand nationals running 10's all day long and never being any louder than your average mustang, on the other hand our little 4 bangers have to make so much noise you can wake a graveyard just giving it enough pedal to make some power.
@ the Genesis Coupe being the next supra like sports car. Just isn't going to happen
All aluminum 3.8L Lamba engine is nothing comparaple nor anywhere close to the 2JZ-GTE.
Specs? What turbo? What'd they do to the motor?
I was looking on genesisforums.com or something like that and after putting a new 3in exhaust and upping the boost to 18psi on the 2.0t they only gained like 19whp over stock. They said that the problem basically comes down to the turbo being too small. Looks like it's gonna cost lots of money to make it fast, which is very disappointing.
not really though, its basically setup like a dsm, comes with a crappy turbo. That 2.0t can take quite the abuse, supposedly its stronger than the current EvoX motor.
Exactly... just wait until FP starts making a 16G-like upgrade. We'll see some attitudes change I'm sure.not really though, its basically setup like a dsm, comes with a crappy turbo. That 2.0t can take quite the abuse, supposedly its stronger than the current EvoX motor.
imo its gonna be a RWD version of either the DSM or SRT4. Cheap and plentiful, can take a beating. So what, you swap out the turbo and add fuel, same thing we do now, except itll be on a car thats new, and its RWD.

About time hyundai makes a car that is going to be worth owning and a fun little ride.
Exactly - we've already talked about the differences between the blocks, and that the EVO X block looks to be stronger. But the fact that the Genesis block looks to be almost identical to the Lancer Ralliart block means that a lot of the EVO X development will trickle down to the Genesis... which is what makes the car very interesting. I think it's going to be very popular.Well, they both are 4B11s, but the EVO X IIRC has a semi-closed block or braced cyclinders or both. Vs the Genesis which has an open block. So I think the EVO X is a little stronger. AMS was looking into seeing if it was possible to bolt a EVO X directly into the GC. They did say however that all the R&D going into the EVO X will transfer over to the GC quite nicely.
Hey now, I love my Sonata it is a fun little DD car.
If the Genesis block is proven to be weak when it comes to high boost, I will agree. But I think it has a good chance of being strong enough to handle decent power on its own. And I'm betting strengthening the block will likely be cheaper than doing a swap for quite a while, if in fact, strength turns out to be an issue. The Evo 4b11 block will surely find it's way into the Genesis, similarly to how 6bolts found their way into 2g's.
