OK i,ve had this ongoing problem with my talon for a long time which was stopping me from driving it with the fresh 6 bolt swap. The car would run like hell, buck violently, wouldnt idle for shit, also blew black and blue smoke that reeked of unburnt fuel. the cel's that would pop up are p0100,p0115,p0110,p0105. pretty much the whole entire maf system. normally any regular mechanic would switch out maf, and maybe the coolant temp sensor and would be stomped when it didnt work. next would be the ecu which is extremely exspensive(eeprom). I did plenty of research and found out a common problem when you o2 sensor shorts or similiar sensors temporarily short out for a stupid reason it will fry the ground sensor wire or trace on the ecu. So i said no shit and took out my ecu. what do you know? it was. problem solved. you can either resolder a new trace in or do what I did and go to any hardware store(murrays, autozone) and buy the windshield defrost repair kit which has like a conductive putty that comes with it and make another trace where it was burnt out because its a very small area to work with. I just want this to be a tech article for people with these problems because it was weeks of headaches for me to figure this out. Heres a link: blownsensorground [ECMTuning - wiki]
It says im too "new" to post this as an article so if someone could move this I aprreciate it. I just want everyone to see this for furthur reference to help people save money, time, and trust me lots of aggrivation.LOL. good luck with this and make sure your fix doesnt interfere with any other part of the ecu or its not too strong because if it is/does it can fry your entire ecu and cause a bigger problem for yourself. Any questions just shoot me a PM ill give anybody some advice if they need it. Thanks

Excellent contribution. I keep conductive pens lying around for just such scenarios. That, and when I slip using a tool I shouldn't have been using on a piece of computer hardware.
There are limitations to the effectiveness of conductive ink (or putty in your case), but I'm sure it is sufficient for this application.

It works great for this type of using because if it shorts again it easily will break off or crack almost like a fuse. but if you want to get professional, solder it or take it somewhere. I searched for weeks btw on this forum related to these cels and so many of them go unresolved so hopefully I help someone in the future from this fked up problem. I go to school in ohio during the week and once a month to try to get this thing going and bring it down there instead of driving my d.d. aka pos neon from hell. Really, I do not think I would have ever got this damn thing to run again unless I finally bought an ecu. but the previous owner, told me before I bought it he had a small problem with the ecu he had to fix and I called him up and he told me what happened and his symptoms were the same and it just clicked in my head so luckily he told me about it. I just want everyone to know to be extra careful they dont touch another trace while attempting this repair!

Does anybody have a walk thru on the repair using the defroster putty? Or the easiest cheapest fix?

Hey man that`s great info . . . :) Another sure sign of a blown sensor ground/trace is the Tps showing 100% w/closed throttle on a scan or log - That`s how discovered my blown ground trace circuit. Btw . . . I did solder in a small wire onto the board & it`s been working flawlessly for over a year . . . :talon:

Hey man how hard was it to solder the wire in place? Plus what kinda wire did u use?

But I'm having similar problems. I'm getting code p0100. I went to the link: blownsensorground [ECMTuning - wiki] and looked at the pic. Now take a look at my ecu. I dont see my ground sensor wire. Is it blown?

This is an image from an article on the sensor trace issue where the board was repaired this is how I fixed mine - looks like the 1 in your pic is missing or blown . . .

Ok so I'm gonna try and use that windshield defrost repair. I'm lookin at the pic, but where exactly does this go. I dont wanna #### up the ecu.

I just looked at a spare 2g ecu board that I have (runs perfectly) & it looks just like the image of yours. Your ground trace is probably good. I would definately look for another solution to your problem . . .

The spare 2g ecu board was an eprom? Where is my ground trace in my pic? I guess I'll try and swap maf's.

I am having the same problem on my car. Recently bought it and had 550cc injectors, and wally 255 fuel pump. Will not hold idle and running very rich. DTC p0100 is set. Just removed my ECM and is exactly as ^. What else can I test? I already swapped both my MAF and 450cc injectors off my other good running DSM.

I have been having the same CEL codes except my ECU does not have a blown wire and I cannot get rid of the codes.

i have all the same codes listed in the first post, i opened my ecu, seemed fine. i checked ground cable and tested it and it all checked out. now im most convinced i have the same problem as i was trying to see if i was getting current to my 02 censor, long story short believe i did a short some one please help

Ok so as far as im understanding if i were to connect a sensor to chassis/battery ground instead of pin 92 i would also have this problem. But i did not do this, I connected my factory 02 sensor to factory harness so i did NOT add another ground or splice cables.
