Some of you have been following our dragster build on here recently. There are a couple other threads of its progress in the lounge here.

We finally made it to the track for the first time yesterday.

The first pass was 22 PSI, just rolling into the throttle for first gear to see how the car behaves. Remember, this vehicle has been built 100% from scratch and had never moved at more than about 5 MPH prior to this run.

Everything looked great on the first pass so we turned the boost up to 30 PSI and decided to make a full pass. Unfortunately, our converter is too tight so we only had 2-3 PSI on the starting line. It took until about 300 ft down track to get any boost and make any power. Keep that in mind when you look at the time and MPH, we wasted about 300 ft of the track waiting for the car to spool. We knew that was going to be an issue but we just wanted to get it out since we've spent so long building it. We're pulling the converter now to have it loosened up.

Here is the video:

Glad to see its on the track! Congrats on finally getting it on the track for some passes, I can tell theres a lot of hard work in that thing. Cant wait for an update!

Are you using a powerglide? Need a looser converter for sure. Definitely different than the usual chevy powered dragster, i like it!

Can't wait to see it come off the line like a bat outta hell!! Should be one hell of a ride!!

Yes, it's a Powerglide. We knew going into this the converter would be the trickiest part without using nitrous. We're going to pull it out tomorrow to have it loosened.

Great to see it made it down the track in one piece - twice!! Can't wait to see it in person.

Who was driving?

My dad will be doing all the driving.

Powerglides dont have very aggressive gearing so you'll definitely need some more converter.
Have you played around with launch timing at all for maybe more boost off the line?
What size turbo were you using?

Looking good Tony, let me know next time your going down to atco, im 10 min from there, i was thinking of going on sun too, dam missed i missed out! haha. Also let me kno when you wanna sell me that pump.

We've messed with timing and antilag trying to get some more boost on the line but the converter is just too tight.

The car usually runs a GT4202R but for the track we had my journal bearing GT4202 on it.

Will do. We weren't sure if we were going or not Saturday until the last minute so I didn't get to tell many people at all we were headed out.

Whenever you want the pump, I can pull it off for you. My car is already up in the air so I just have to pull it out.

Nice rail you have there:hellyeah: I see low 9s or even faster in the future with that beast

Can't wait to see it launch with the converter:sneaky:
Do you plan on going higher than 30psi with the gt42?

If that's all it has in it's future, we'll be VERY disappointed. :D

We've already been to 50 PSI on the dyno. We're planning on running even higher than that if need be though.

When you went to the track to get teched, did you have problems with weight? As in were other racers, bitching that your running a 4cyl and turbo and their running v8s and what class are you going to be racing in?

I cant wait to see more of this

No, I'm not sure why anyone would be bitching about that? We built the car to 100% fit the rules of Competition Eliminator's I-dragster. There is no minimum weight for racing unless restricted by the class. I-dragster allows us to be as light as 1500lbs. We were the star of the show at the track when we were there. No one could walk by the car without stopping and looking. There were probably 75 dragsters there but they all had a V8 of some sort in them except for us.

Tony, do you think you guys will make it to Virginia this weekend? Or are you going to wait until Maple Grove? We're shooting for Maple Grove to make it with our car.......

We were originally shooting for Virginia but my dad will be out of town and we didn't get the converter back and tested yet. The converter will probably be back this week but we'd still like to put a pass or two on the car before heading to a race 5+ hours away.

Glad to see you guys are getting close with your car.
