Walbro 190 re-wired
MOTOR MOUNTS since you're fwd
At least 550s but probably need something more like 650s (if you go this big you'll want dsmlink or an eprom chip to compensate, safc isn't very effective with 650s)
Ebay intercooler kit will work fine.
Make sure you do some port work on the turbo/exhaust manifold.

If I remember right all 95s came with eprom ecu's, so you could get dsmlink or just get a keydiver chip for the easy (and cheaper) way out.

i read up on the key driver it is a cheaper way to go and it well let me push my budget even farther and my goal is 350 people have other goals upgrades after upgrades but ill be happy around 350 ###### wont chnage the setup after i achieve this goal.

Rewired Denso 150 LPH, no problems up to 44 lb/min on my setup. Nice and quiet too.

To add to the list, though this probably puts you over the budget:

Used cams ($300-$400)
Used EVOIII intake manifold ($175-$250)
FP race exhaust manifold ($200).

Bam, 400 h.p. without breaking a sweat.

traction past 300whp on a FWD is a big problem. Trust me...I know first hand.

Dsmlink $600 for v3 or find a used v2 for cheaper
Wideband $200 aem uego works great
Injectors $300 or cheaper if you go used.
Walbro $100 with install kit
FMIC: $300 (ssac or another ebay kit)
That is the best way to spend the money IMO on your car.

cams, dsmlink, fuel injectors, and an adjustable pressure regulator.

I have to agree with most people though, there are very few mods you can do that would be bad.

Alot of people have tuned 650cc and 680cc injectors just fine with an SAFC...

Yeah many have done it, but there's a problem once you start to up the boost, there's a very good write up on it I saw just the other day, I'll try to find it. If I remember right it has something to do with timing.

EDIT: Found it.

The result is correct but your reasoning is wrong. The ECU has airflow tables. With upgrades to a DSM you typically want to be on the highest airflow table any time you're at full boost. The problem with the AFC/large injector combo is it makes fuel adjustments by changing the airflow signal getting to the ECU. With large negative adjustments (what's required for large injectors), this will lower your airflow reading so much that you end up on a lower airflow map, which has more timing.

If you do change your setup Jeff will burn you a new chip for $20, it's really a great way to go.

If you were me and had 3000 bucks, a 97 tsi awd 5 speed, mbc uninstalled , what would you put on for mods and why?

i am ready to start adding, i want to do it right and get the best bang for my buck. still a newbie and want to hear from the pros. thanks

The first thing I would do is make sure any and all maintenance is "up-to-speed", and I do mean ALL!

No, it's nothing glamorous as a new turbo, but all the "go-fast" parts in the world don't make a car that sits in the driveway any faster.

evo 3 16g
evo 3 manifold and o2 housing
safc2
650 injectors
255 walbro
fmic
3" exhaust
intake
fuel pressure regulator
boost gauge
oil pressure gauge
wideband o2 gauge

only after all maintenance is done..

I'd go with a t28 over a 16g. It will cost the same if not less by the time your done buying those stupid j pipes and install kits.
MBC
Boost gauge
Wideband
T28
Intake
FMIC
3" turbo back
SMIM
Tial bov
Cams
dsmlink
Injectors
And still have a lot of money left over for other stuff.

+1^^^^

After that I'd begin with getting basic gauges (boost, oil, wideband, ect) and some type of logger. You want to know whats going on with your car.
Some type of SAFC
Next 3" turbo back exhaust.
Then, fuel system (walbro 255, 650cc injectors, FPR)
Move on to turbo and FMIC.

Just dont rush into anything. Do all the supporting mods first.

this is the reason why i ask this this way, i knew i wanted the fuel pump and injectors, gauges and fmic. i just want to make sure to take the right steps. thanks for the input. :hellyeah:

I wish i had 3 G's to blow on my car. Just follow the upgrade path, do all maintenance, and go big on the turbo (atleast above a 16g).

Just make sure you dont spend big money on parts that you could go cheap on like: Ebay FMIC and Ebay 3" Exhaust. Those last long and are good quality. DO NOT Ebay a TURBO!!! That could destroy your motor... or just burn $300.

1. Maintenance
2. Free Mods
3. Supporting Mods
*Datalogger
*Complete Fuel system: Fuel pump, Injectors, AFPR, and DSMlink or SAFC
*Front Mount Intercooler
*Blow-off Valve
*3" Full Exhaust
*Intake
*Turbo

Then drive that beast till it blows up:thumb:

the car is up and running, it is my daily driver. she goes strong and everything seems to be fine so far. i just want to up the hp and get into working on vehicles a little bit. losing money is a passion of mine.

Hahaha, well you bought the right vehicle sir. But just go thru the Free Mods list and do those. After that, do weight reduction. I just got done with those two because my car was down. Now its go time and im excited to boost her again :D
