I've read a lot of threads and seen a lot of adds for people saying "little or no shaft play". I'm just wondering if anyone has what the actual measurements should be for acceptable shaft play axially and side to side?

Turbo can have several mm of shaft play side to side, but generally in and out means the turbo is junk.

I assume then that if your stock turbo (given it has made it the better part of 20 years on the car) compressor can touch the housing when wiggling its probably time to upgrade the turbo too...

damn.
