I'm not sure how the whole "gameboy as a datalogger" thing works, but it seems pretty simple and it seems that the PSP is pretty advanced and it's definitely easy to transfer stuff from your computer to the PSP. So, I searched a couple of sites and couldn't find anything about using the PSP as a datalogger. So does anyone know if this would work, or has anyone attempted it?

I would say that the psp is too new for someone to have come up with any type of program the psp can run that will communicate with your cars comp. I mean the datalogger for the gba hasn't even been around that long and the gba is getting old now LOL. :dsm:

I'm reviving an old thread.

I have been looking into modding my psp, and have been told you can run windows..Now i'm trying to figure out after running windows, can I use palm on the psp as a logger?

Then another ?
How do I get the psp to hookup to my logger cable?

If you can put windows on it why don't you just skip the palm emulator and run TMO. I have a link some where of how you can dowload it let me dig it up ...

Let me know how it works, by the by what cable are you using?

I have still not logged wit a logger..Like I said I have palm logger on laptop, but never used. So I dont know which one would work better..
Cable is for an safc-2..Which I never received the safc, but the cable cam in my talon..so I cannot tell you what cable it actually is..But I'm pretty sure it hooks up to my laptop..

I think you are talking about the TurboXS DTEC. Coincidentally I run one in my car.
The gameboy is just the interface. The DTEC works in the same manner as the SAFC, except it also has an electronic boost controller and datalogging capabilities.

I revived the thread and had the question...

Whats this DTEC? If you can change boost electronically after the mbc is set, and log that would be cool. Got a link to this?

TurboXS DTEC Fuel Computer/Boost Controller Pro [TXS-DTEC-FCBC] EDO Performance

It isn't bad, but there are better ways of getting the same capabilities. I do like that there is no hard wired screen like an SAFC that you have to keep in you car, because you can just detach the gameboy and store it.

And no, the DTEC doesn't work in tandem with the MBC, it replaces the MBC with it's own electronic boost controller sort of like a Profec B.

Replaces mbc:(...Do I have to use the electronic boost control?

DB9? take a picture of the cable. Also which palm program do you plan on running, TMO seems like it has more options than mmcd and tunerstein.

Idk if you can see but the one on left plugs into one on right for safc. Camera phone pic but it turned out well..

You wouldn't have to use the EBC, but if you're not planning on using that feature, you may as well use an AFC. Especially if you already have a logger cable.

The one on the right looks like a standard logger cable that plugs into the ALDL port. The one on the left you said goes to the AFC? Where are you planning on plugging this into the PSP?

It looks like the PSP is USB only. If you could load windows, you may be able to setup a serial-USB cable to work with that. These are typically the only brand that will work with DSM's, but you can probably find it cheaper.

USA-19HS - High-Speed USB Serial Adapter

You would have to go to a PSP forum to see if it could be made to run something like that.

The other thing I think you could run into is that the PSP is acting like a standard PC. You would need a null modem if your logger cable is setup for a Palm, they typically are but you can't tell unless you opened it up.

The PC rx and tx are backwards from the Palm rx and tx

The null modem corrects this without any rewiring and is only ~$5.
