Ok, so i just recieved my new gt35r turbo in the mail today so I thought I would start my build thread.
The head is mostly stock except for brian crower stage 2 regrind cams(not sure if they are 264 or not).
The block has forged wiseco 7.8:1 pistons, Eagle rods, balanced crank, arp head studs, cometic head gasket,
exhaust has an obx tubular t3 manifold, 3"downpipe , 2.5" exhaust, magnaflow muffler.
Turboxs manual boost controller, cobalt boost gauge.
act2600 clutch.
Now for the parts I know i need, I'm going with atleast 750cc injectors and a walbro 190 or the 255 with fpr. And something to monitor it with. I'm hoping for a 350-400 awhp car.
Please feel free to post any comments or advice you may have. Thanks for viewing.

So please let me know if I can get away with just a 190 pump to reach my goal or not. So I dont need to buy a fpr. I know most will say just go with a 255 anyway but like I said im only hopin for 350-400.

And again...... like I said, i understand that the turbo is much more than what is needed. but like i clearly stated, it only cost me 700 bucks tax in from a guy on a local board. brand new never used. so you try and tell me that you wouldnt pick one up for that.... I don't think. And with this I can always upgrade. I just ordered precision 880 injectors with a 255 walbro with a maf translator. so I will post more up when I get it installed and tuned.

Yeah, actually I wouldn't pick one up for that because it doesn't align with my goals. Evo III 16g is on sale for $499 from forced performance and thats what I would pick up.

That's a GREAT price.

That being the case, considering how much power you're looking to make, why not flip the turbo, as in sell it for a LOT more than you paid for it, then use the profit to buy EVERYTHING you need for a EVO III 16G build? It would get you where you're looking to go power-wise AND save you money; the only thing it would cost you is a bit more time, and if there's anything I've learned about building a DSM, it's that having time is something you grow accustomed to LOL. Just a suggestion. Now, if you're looking to eventually go over that 500 HP mark, I can understand you deciding to stick with what you currently have, but unless that's your ultimate goal, I don't fully see the point in not trying to save yourself some money. Just my 2 cents. Good luck either way tho.

Yeah I was thinking about flipping it for a split second but again as you mentioned, if I want more in the future I can stay with it. I mean I wouldnt mind having over 500hp I just put 350-400 to be safe and figured it would be an easy target to meet. So once I get everything installed and have it running if its over 400 then great LOL. I mean i've got the block built for it, and a clutch that can handle over 500 so I guess its whatever we can squeeze out of it haha

LOL well I should have said, going to pick up, instead of ordering them. I called another local shop and they have a walbro 255 new for 100 and precision 880s for 200.
so again with deals like that and somewhat smaller expectations I figured they would be ok. the eclipse that dyno'd 512hp has 990's in it so 880s should be good for 400-450 shouldnt they?
oh also they have the maft in stock for 200.. i need to pick up a 3"gm maf and couplers tho.

with injectors of that size you need something like ECMLINK. One other thing is do you have the top end built to make use of a 35R? Increased redline sure would be nice so that you are not in boost for just a few seconds.

The 255lph is fine, as long as you get an AFPR with it.

The 880's are fine, but I'm more of a spend money once and done type of thing.

And the reason I asked about tuning devices is that you won't need a MAF-T if you go with ECMlink. They make a cable that replaces the MAF-T and is only $75.

If you go with some other tuning method (DSmap, custom EPROM burning, etc.) then you'll need it. I just don't want to see you buy something you won't need.

Lets keep focus on helping him out. I think your goals for the 35R are easily achievable, as that turbo as you know is a work horse and can pump out a lot more. Personally, we all may have a different way to get a "350-400" HP goal, but this is what he has to work with so lets keep it on course.

Also, depending on your tuning experience and/or curiousity to learn more you should check out DS-Map. Version 2 is in testing right now, but version 1 is already available and it's free. It supports speed density which is something you'll need to vent the bov to the atmosphere if that's something your interested in, but most importantly since it uses a MAP Sensor even if you have a boost leak or an intercooler pipe breaks lose your car will still run properly. :thumb:

Snow - Regarding the MAF-T, I believe that you don't need a MAF (MAF-T sensor), just the MAP. Correct me if I'm wrong. Don't want to spread bad info :]

If he runs DSMlink and wants to run a GM MAF sensor, he does not need the MAF-T. The translator is replaced by the cable from ECMlink.

If he wants to run speed density at some point, he will not need a MAF/MAS. He will need a MAP and IAT.

So is it possible to go (just for about a month) 880's, 255 with fpr and 3"gm maf with maft? just to get it running for a bit till I get the dsmlink picked up....

Yes it is possible. After you have enough for the link, sell the maf-t and use the link's provided cable.
