So today, just driving around i started to hear this noise, whenever i would accelerate i heard this noise. The car wouldnt build any boost either, so i was sure it was a boost leak, on another occasion this happened, so i get home and planned on changing my oil as well, i got the BLT test out and look at my turbo and this is what i find.

Well, i wanted to get a 16g just not this soon, i was hoping to wait till summer.... will it be ok to drive this for a couple days till i get the new one? This is my only car and i have work and college, only 10 miles of driving is all i need to do...

I heard it's bad to run from the head and everyone I know runs from the housing.
The O.P.'s using the stock turbo from a 1G which is intended to be fed from the head with a restrictor built into the banjo fitting at the turbo, yet somehow outlasts even the 2G's T25 which is fed from the filter housing. I'd stress that point to anyone telling you it's a good idea to use the filter housing as your oil source.

If you're killing 14B's for no reason with the oil supply fed from the filter housing and it stops when you move the oil source to the head, I suppose you'll have your answer.

Another thread you should read if you're running an inline filter would be:

Find yourself a 1G oil supply line and 10mm x 1.25 banjo bolt for the head. It'll set you back a whopping $33 from JNZ for everything you need to do the job the proper way.

Yea, my baby is done, lucky i found a ebay 16g for dirt, so at least i can drive the car.... im only gonna run like 10psi on the 16g

1) I'm hoping you are buying a genuine MHI 16g and not a Chinese piece of crap. Unfortunately it sounds like you aren't.

2) So you are going to ignore the CORRECT advice given to you about where the feed line needs to come from and keep blowing turbos??

Seriously, if you are going to be this stubborn, go buy a Honda.

I plan on running it from the head i will switch it over as soon as i have the money ( just found out they are online 40 bucks, but im a poor college kid at the moment) and im not ignoring...theres a thing called money and unfortunately i dont have a whole lot at the moment.

I would definitely oil a mhi turbo from the head and probably the ebay16g, you are about to waste your money on as well.
Ive always ran my mhi turbos from the head with no issues.
Are you letting the car idle at all before shutdown?

He'll figure out that he's spending more money to do it wrong twice instead of right once...eventually.

Well, apparently hes just getting the ebay unit as a patch as we all know DSM's aren't bulletproof.

Im running a few ebay items myself with success for that matter and just added a few more things to the list :shhh:

I know how you feel.

I've run all my turbos oiled from the filter housing. Thats the only choice I have, being an NA 2.4L 4g64. I've never blown one but I dont put many miles on the car. So I cant really say.

UPDATE! I got a MHI 16G! Just rebuilt, this thing is amazing paid 200 bucks. Buddy blew the motor and rebuilt it then went with a bastard 20g so he has no need. And in about 2 weeks im switching the feed line. Its a small 16g but will flow like a big 16g...had new internals and exhaust side redone. When it was on the car it hit full boost (22psi) at only................2600rpms!!!! Im stoked, ill take some pics of it going on tomorrow.

And Lonewolf thanks for you pointless post.

It wasn't pointless. I just don't want you blowing up the third? turbo you've swapped onto your car. I wouldn't drive the car until I've switched out the lines, but at least you've gotten the point that it must be done.

is the bolt in my 2g head the same as the 1g's?? because i havent bolted mine up yet and im sending back my feed line (OFH) to get one that feeds, so it comes with the bolt but is it the right one?

thanks for the info, i could have killed my 14b..

The turbo supply hole in the passenger's side corner of the head is the same for all models- on the 2G and 1G non-turbo 4G63's it's simply plugged with a short 10mm x 1.25 bolt with one copper sealing washer. You'll need a 10mm x 1.25 banjo bolt to replace it, Mitsu #MF650102.
