ok so i bought an ebay knock of greddy type s it dosent sound like the type s and i know its a knock off so you get what you paid for but that not what worrys me. it has a flotter noise that come out of the turbo and its not from the bov i can fell it when i put my hand in front of the turbo please help

That would be compressor surge. Loosen the screw on the top of the bov some. As long as it doesn't do it at higher boost levels you should be fine.

My type s knock off would never open no matter what I did, throw it in the garbage and get the best bov ever made, the stock 1g and get the stop leak kit on it from dejon.

The reason you hear the flutter is cause the spring might be set too tight. Loosen it up and test it out till you get it nice and set. If it keeps fluttering, the spring is most likely stuck closed, in this case, throw it away and get a real bov.
I would have gotten an hks but my car already came with a greddy type-s bov when i bought it so i'll stick to it. Otherwise, get an hks, it is by far a great sounding and performing bov other than the 1g.

Take the top of the blow off valve off and remove the small spring. LEAVE the larger spring inside. You will have NO more fluttering. If it is a knock off it will not last very long as an authentic one (diaphrams are different).

I have an authentic Greddy Type S with just the large spring. I can hold 18psi no problem.

If you do a search, this procedure is known as the Single Spring Mod (SSM).

Also a problem with the knock offs if the top doesn't seal when its bolted down. Try suckin on the top port like the motor does in vac. It should not leak, if it does this could be why your valve is not opening. I have ran one for over a year with no problems after I sealed that leak. It also holds 30psi with out leaking. The diaphram inside is a POS but it has yet to rip

I got one of those pieces of junk with my ebay intercooler kit. I would have used my 1g BOV, but the piping was flanged for the ebay one.

Take the whole thing apart and reassemble it before you try to use it!!! Mine didn't open at all, and it turned out that the nut that holds the valve to the diapragm was about 15 turns too loose. WTF They screwed it on untill the stud started to touch the nylon lock insert in the nut, and left it. You may need to fix that, and fix all the leaks in it, and JB weld the extra side nipple on before it falls out, and then it may work better for you.

ok i do have the screw very loose but i havent taken apart yet now if i take out one of the springs out will it still hold a desent amount of boost i em running 18psi right now.and the flotter comes from the turbo so that compression surge i em told from up above in the fourm

thanks agian for all the help!!!!

I cannot assure you that being a knock off, it will hold boost. However, you can give it a try. A single spring mod for an authentic Greddy will hold up to 21 psi with a single large spring.

My knock off lasted for almost a year, then the diaphram gave out.

I have one and never had a problem with it! worked great!

Same here.

This man knows what he is talking about. I've run a dejon tool modded 1g BOV up to 25psi on my Evo 3 16g setup. It never leaks. I've also pressure tested it with an air compressor. Don't waste your money on knock offs of already crappy BOVs just because they are shiny or "look cool".

I ripped the diaphragm on one running 12lbs, the knock-offs seem to be hit and miss, i'll stick with my turbonetics for now.

I bought a knockoff type-s. First, the bottom nipple broke off, then the top screw stripped out. I just replaced it because it was leaking big time. Maybe I'll take it apart and see what was up with it. I would never recommend one after how bad mine performed. It would either flutter or blow open, no in between for me.

The flutter was from the BOV on mine though. The stock t-25 was still strong after 20k miles with that piece of crap on it.

I got one of these knock offs with a cxracing piping kit - total POS. It flutters like an old lady with a case gas! I have loosend the screw and tightened the screw neither helps.

I am going to make an adapter plate so that I can use my 1g bov, I'll take some pics and if it comes out good, I will do a "how to".

Very very good advice.

If it is a knock off it will not last very long as an authentic one (diaphrams are different).

They're usually fine as long as you keep oil out of the intake tract/intercooler piping.

The thing is you guys are buying a knock off of a shitty Greddy BOV that is known to tear diaphragms if you look at them wrong.

Go with the quality OEM part with the proper Dejon tool mod.

I can understand the ebay bov being called a pos but I run an authentic greddy bov, and so do four of my local dsm buddies. No problems whatsoever.

Thats good that you have no problems. It is commonly known however, that the diaphragm of the authentic Greddy BOVs tear quite easily. I'm not saying this will happen to you or your friends, but there are many cases of this occuring.

Just found out yesterday that they are making knock off Greddy Type RS.

The thing is thou is that they are stamped and everything with the Greddy logo. We had no idea this was going on until my buddy put his up for sale on ebay and they took it down. They only noticable difference I guess is that the sticker on top is a bit more shinny then on the knock offs.
