I used a different fitting, but i did also use the o-ring to fill the gap. It worked fine for me. I wouldnt suggest using teflon tape though. If a piece gets into the turbo, it might starve it for oil. If you want to add anything at all id use teflon paste very sparingly.

Thats what I'll probably do. After I screw the fitting down there are some small gaps where you can see into the recess.

Just wondering if someone all ready found a solution or has had problems with this setup.

I have the kit from Extreme and even mine oil feed didn't have a recess, it was leaking from there. The NUT on the fitting is too small and still had a small gaps around. I used a different type of washers/incl. crushwashers and hard rubber-plastic type of washers- the ones that are around oil pan bolt on some cars/ and it was still leaking. I bought locally same fitting, but in aluminum, part # 9919 ERL/12x1.5to -4/. It is Earl's fitting. It has a wider NUT, fits perfect and doesn't leak no more. Don't do things in half-O-ring... It is rubber and gets hot there, not to mention it is very dangerous and can cause fire.LOL
 
Ok well it appears I am picking up a Billet 6blade Hx40 in decent condition.
The thing is, its the odd ball 56mm inducer, and I was told the exhaust side is 65mm.
Ive already spoken with a few knowledgeable members about it in pm and theres mixed opinions on it since its not a proven combination.
Anyone else with this combo running it yet? Does this classify as a super or Pro40 being that its only 56mm comp?

Im mainly curious of the flow and spool differences between it and the typical 8blade 58mm and 60mm hx40's?
I mean it has less blades which means more flow, but the catch is that its only a 56mm inducer instead of a 58. Its 12 blade exhaust side though, so theoretically it should still perform just as good, though I know it wont flow as much as the 60mm 6blade hx40 does which ive read does 69lbs/min.
In all honestly, I dont need the baddest biggest version of the hx40 to reach my goals though, and Id like to easily assume it will still outflow any hx35 variance?

What are you guys thoughts?

Ugh, it's really annoying how every HX35 / HX40 looks different. I still haven't found a picture of one that looks exactly the same as mine, making it even harder to confirm what kind of turbo I have. Grrrr....

And I've taken the housings off and measured the wheels, 56mm comp and 65mm turbine. The question everyone would like to know is how well the 56mm 6-blade wheel performs compared to the 58mm 8-blade.
 
Sounds like some of you guys need to start running them and see.
Hopefully i will have backup numbers for HX35 in bolton form in the next couple weeks here.
 
I was thinking of running a Ebay t3 manifold on my hx40 t3 16cm and porting the center of the hot side so that when the exhaust hits it splits instead of buying a expensive shearer divided manifold. Anyone try this yet and what is a rough spool they are getting??

I have HX35 in bolt-on, this upgrade from my E316G was basically because I wanted something like with a bit more lag and more top end. 20g or 18g would of fit the bill, then I discovered this.
It seems like a lot of people are just doing HX40s or HX35s in T3 either way people want 500+ it seems i dont' know.

Ive been talking about this with dsmonster and gst95 all day and based on my current conclusion, obviously the 56mm 6blade hx40 will NOT flow as much as the 60mm 6blade hx40, BUT are we safe to assume that it "should" flow MORE or equivalent to the 60mm 7blade hx35 which has recorded 60lbs/min?

Therefore if that assumption is accurate, I dont see why the 6blade 56mm hx40 cant be roughly a 60lbs min turbo, thus making it similar to the typical 58mm 8blade hx40. Now whether this 56mm version makes better flow per psi, or better numbers on pump gas, and quicker spool is the real question?

At least the one Im getting is billet so I dont feel so bad about getting it.

I was surprised when I took my Holset apart it had a rubber o-ring in there. Guess diesels don't get as hot as gas motors.

I was spooling a 18cm housing around 5000rpm. I dont know if anybody has ran the 16cm housing yet.

As soon as I can get my hands on a bolt-on bep housing I'll update everyone on what the 56mm 6-blade can do.
 
This year I will have up and running my fully stripped/gutted down to race only features 1995 7bolt gsx. i am gonna be running my secret 7blade hx35 setup. it is coming along quite nicely, and i will start my build thread here pretty soon. you guys can see my "awesome secret setup" if you check out my build thread i am gonna be starting probably next weekend. as soon as i get some time away from work. gotta work to fund the project! i am not just trying to build a cheap fast dsm with a big turbo. i am going all out and doing it the best i can. it will be as light as possible and i plan to be well into the 10's this season. and i am not even building it to be an all out drag car. it is mainly gonna be an autocross/road racing(track) car. gonna being flying on that corn juice! i am pretty excited. i would like to be one of those that gives these turbos the name and reputation they deserve. should be a friekin killer setup! i am excited!

I've heard this same information from a fairly reliable source as well. I figure the 16cm housing should be in the 4400-4600 range. I'm not sure if my friend was using a divided manifold or not. I'll try to get some more info.
