It could only happen to me. The car was running great yesterday up untill it started missing rellay bad.I figured the plug wire popped off of #1 cyl. again. That wasent the problem.I pulled the plugs and found that the electrode on#1 was gone!the metal hook thing that conects the spark was still intact but the inside of the plug was gutted.WTF so I run a comp test and find That I only have 40 psi in that cyl and the rest are 150 ish. These plugs were no more than 5k miles old.I feel like ngk should pay for the repairs (good luck right)Has anyone ever heard of any kind of krap like this!?

Why should NGK pay for your poor tuning, damaged plug that you might have gapped wrong, or some other condition. What i'm saying is that it's very doubtful it's any fault of theirs. Sounds to me like the motor detonated serverly damaging the plug. And well if something falls out or gets sucked into an engine severe damage occurs. Id say it's safe to say the turbine wheel is also trashed on the turbo. Pull the head and see if the piston occured any damage (i'm sure it did but who knows how much)

plugs were gapped right and Ive had a good tune with no knock for a while. of course ngk shouldent pay for it,I just feel like I diddent do aything wrong.Ive kept the boost below 16 psi.this motor has 87k miles.

Well, you stated you have bad compression, start with a leakdown test. You are losing compression someplace. Best you can do is find the error and solve it. It might not have been your fault anyways, maybe you got a really bad batch of gas or something and clogged up the cylinder, who knows. Start with the obvious and go from there. Leakdown, find your leak, fix it, double check the cylinder, and call it a day.

I started tearing it down today. Turbine looks good, cant wait to get the head off and see whats all phucked up! Good thing I have a work truck for a daily driver.

The head has to come off anyway,it just gives me an excuse to rebuild and port it.That chunk of spark diddent just vanish, theres a hole!Hopefully its a stuck valve.Good point about the injector in that cyl. It was running crappy on restarts, but it would go away. Maby it was running lean at that time. I tested all injectors via dsm link 2 weaks prior and they were fine.

I finally got off my ass and pulled the head last weekend. The #1 cyl looks fine.Looks like I got a bent exhaust valve. Now I just gotta save some coin. I wonder what cams should I put in with my evo3/650 set up?
