I just purchased a 98 GST 5 Speed in Cayenne Red. Car has 101K miles on it and is in near mint condition inside and out, even came with the owner's manual in the original leather case for crying out loud. Completely unmolested except for a 3 inch catback,

I will get some pictures up when I get her washed and registered, and start my build log shortly after that.

In for pictures. What's your plans for it? I will admit I love my 1G's, but I'm a sucker for a clean 2GB. What kind of interior does it have? The black leather or ? Keep us updated.

My plans are to show people what a FWD is capable of, already have a 30R for it.

The interior is cloth, it is the two tone black and tan.

Only problems I can find are, while the interior is mint, for some reason the liner on the sunroof panel came off and sounds like lifter tick, at least that is my assumption since the noise seems to come every other stroke cycle.

So an oil change, and halfway done putting in ballasts off a late model Maxima for real HIDs and the car throws a fuel trim bank 1 code LOL. Damn O2 sensors.

Gotta love those DSM's. :p But, if that's the worst problem with the car, I think your set. :thumb:

Knock on wood.

Though yesterday in taking my bumper off, every single bolt broke and I had to drill and retap all the holes.

Oh, it's not the only thing wrong with it. Just changed the oil and whole bunch of crazy crap happening.

I think it's a crankwalker.

Ok, checked for crankshaft end play and had none, so time to post some pictures and detail the work I am doing.

I installed HIDs and a new gasket between the converter and the exhaust pipe, didn't take any pictures, as it was nothing special and mildly boring. I also cut the AC belt off, good riddance, and have some eBay stock rotors and brakes, drilled and slotted going on next week, and will paint the calipers red too, I will take pictures of that.

I also have new Gatorback belts to put on, OEM timing and balance belt, and a OEM water pump to do, these I probably will not take pictures of.

On to the pictures taken right after I bought her, and yes those are 3 Eclipses in the background in various stages of surgery:

Interior Shot:
(Wish I cleaned out my polluting to show you how clean it is...yes those are the original floor mats...also extremely clean.)

Front Shot:
(HIDs already installed, radiator shroud cut out for front mount clearance, coming soon.)

Front Shot with friends GS:
(Our lovers cozying up together.)

Shot from the Right:
(Mint, mint, mint, and some more mint.)

Shot from the Left:
(This car is so clean.)

Shot from the Rear:
(I didn't de-badge her, will work on getting the Eclipse remnants gone.)

Rear Shot with Friends GS:
(More DSM Love.)

Very clean car man, lucked out. What are your hp goals with her ?

About 350 to 400 to the wheels.

The motor that is in her now is just going into my 97 GST to get it running as my daily. I have already a fully built 6 Bolt, Manley Pistons, Eagle rods, Clevite bearings, stock crank will be balanced to make way for the balance shaft to be eliminated, ARP main studs, ARP crank bolt, new OEM flywheel bolts. Fidanza light-weight flywheel, ACT 2100 clutch. Topped by a 1st gen head, stock intake manifold with a PX3 Intake Gasket, BC Springs and Retainers, BC 272s, all held together by an OEM 4 layer HG and ARP head studs. All of which I already have.

I just have to decide on a turbo setup, going back and forth between an Evo III and a GT30R.

Sounds real good. If you're only shooting for that much an evo3 16g will do with a good tune.

Yeah, I agree...but then that DSM bug takes over and I say to myself...but what if I want more?

A Nice 500 whp pull on a Dyno is always nice to have a slip for.

That is true. An fp3052 is a more streetable turbo i would say compared to the 30r, but that's just my opinion.

I have heard good things of the FP turbos, but never have had the luxury of being in one. I think I will end up with the Evo III, simply because I am getting to the point that I am sick of bleeding money. Plus, I want to start a GSX project.

+1 on the bleeding money, LOL. These cars are endless money pits, and i decided i am just going to keep mine clean, simple, and streetable with a little kick in there just in case, and when the hood is opened it will look all oem as i plan to keep it looking both oem inside and out as well ;) .. but with a kick :rocks:

Nice sounds good. Why not take an easier route and get an fp wastegate and crank the boost to 16 ?

Very clean! I like your 2g junk yard, too!

LOL!

The white one is actually a few hours of work away from driving again. The red one we picked up for 500.00 smashed in the front but still drivable. Put that motor into the white one and used the car as a parts puller and sold stuff we don't need.

The one under the cover is a Spyder with a 4g64 block and 4g63 head :thumb: running 15 lbs of boost.

Well the weather set me back on plans. I just ordered a K&N with bracket kit from Slow Boy Racing. (Gotta tell you SBR guys, I am not fooled by the free shipping but pay handling costs, I would be more inclined to buy more from you if that was reduced or eliminated, hint hint.)

I put on my drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads that I got 189.99 off eBay (very nice quality I must say, these are just placeholders for the AEMs I have.)

I will have pictures of the brakes, rotors, HID wiring, K&N filter and cleaned up engine bay hopefully this week, weather permitting. The timing belt is in great shape, looks like done recently, so that saves me a little money. Also picked up a 4G64 crank...I am thinking stroker. :hellyeah: :thumb:

Next up I am going to fuse my HIDs for extra protection, paint the calipers red, make some of those awesome Husky catch-cans and put some Evo rims on the car. In April I am getting a set of Megan coil-overs so it doesn't look like I am driving a Jeep. :tease:

Just another angle of her to keep the pic mongers happy:

did you say you are replacing an ebay 3" catback system for the megan catback system which is generally the same thing with a higher pricetag and their stamp on it and so called customer service? might want to save some money before doing that.

Got my K&N filter in today from SBR. Installed it, have a whiney PS belt, so cut it off for now. I also have pictures of the rotors installed.

Filter installed (as you can see this bay is due for a cleanup real soon.) You can also see the wiring for the HIDs, it is messy right now, will tuck and relocate:

Tomorrow I get in a 3G emblem for the front bumper. I hope to be able to order an NGR Type S BOV on Friday, if they have them back in stock. Tomorrow I will post some of the other parts I have ready to go.

you have your own 2g grave yard.... All project cars?
