I hope she can see in the dark. Btw, 12k and above becomes purple.

Soooo not that bright anymore.... Go 12k

Make sure you get something with new " thicker" wires or resistors packs. I have seen many aftermarket bulbs burn up factory wiring.

There are many things you need to know about HID lights before you throw caution to the wind and throw them in any car. First of all, they're technically illegal to have in any car that didn't come with them from the factory. The reason for this is because they put out three times as many lumens, and that much light can blind other drivers if the reflector of your headlights wasn't designed for them. You'll get bleed, which with halogen bulbs isn't that bad because it's only one third of the light.

Secondly, the bluer the light, the less light there will actually be. Of course it's cool to have bluish lights, but there is actually more light from the whiter or even yellowish HIDs.

If you're going to install HIDs in your girlfriend's car, it would probably be to buy a complete kid- with housings that were designed for them. I know it's easy to just pick up an HID bulb kit, install the bulbs and ballasts, and be done, but it's disrespectful to other drivers and could be a safety hazard. I suggest doing some serious research about it.

Also, I don't know how much they'll burn up wires because they only use 33 watts on average as opposed to the 55 watts of halogen bulbs. However, the wires from the ballasts to the bulbs can have something like 26,000 volts so be careful with that. They work similar to say, neon lighting, rather than something with a burning filament.

Hope this helps! Happy lighting time!

I have 10,000k bulbs and their like a deep blue, they look nice but late at night i wish they were brighter. I would suggest 8000k for the blue look and greater visibility over the 10,000K. Make sure you get the correct housing, there's a few Honda's in my area with HID lights and stock housings and they blind oncoming traffic.

I had some 6500K halogen HID bulbs. They were pretty and all, but my visibility was lessened, and they infact did burn up my stock wiring. I think I have some 3800K bulbs now, that are pretty much stock. For the whitest light possible, 4500-5500K in recommended.

If your going to install such a degrading part on a car I would install it on yours. Not on your girl friends so that she can possibly get in an accident for not being able to see in front of her. Show her how much you "love" her by doing a real retrofit. There are enough ricer civics with blue lights around.

If I were you, I wouldn't even look past anything 6k. You know what 6k is pushing it. Not only do the blue/purple lights look disgusting, offer crappy viability, they also make you stand out to la policia.

I'd stick to 4350k or 4500k.

I just got some 5900k,and they are slightly blue, but not overpowering

i have 3000k in my low beams pure yellow brightest out there, id stick to like 4500k or 6000k for best visability and oem white look

I had 6k's on my last car and they had a blue hint to them but still lit up the road enough, i wouldnt get anything over 8k

I've always ordered 10000-12000k HID's and they are always bright as living hell... and have a good white/blue look to them. If you want a good deep blue setup, get a more expensive 100w 12000k setup....

I have 10000k Low Beams, 3000k High Beams with Yellow Reflectors, and 6000k Fog Lights with Yellow Reflectors.

I have never had an issue with wire harness burning up, even on my aftermarket headlights. However I did recently buy and install a relay kit for all the lights and it reallllllly enhanced the performance of the lights, quicker ignition, brighter light, and no flickering if car voltage gets to its low point.

i have hids in the outlander there 6k , i personally would not go anywhere about 6k.....
