What are you guys using to wash/clean your car? I bought mine recently and it has smudges in it from where the previous owner was working on it and then touch the paint with his hands. I want to clean it up and get it looking nice again.

I use dish washing detergent on mine, pretty gentle on paint and remove oil and grease alright.

Wash: Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner. Gonna try their new NXT car wash when the current jug runs out.

Dry with California squegee and The Absorber synthetic drying cloth.

Dust as needed between washes: California Duster

Microfiber cloths with water damp or wet depending on issue and if needed dilluted Purple Power for spot cleaning - bird crap, grease smudges, etc. reapply wax to that section if you use PP..

Wax: Meguiar's NXT Wax - 2 coats with wipe down between each. Wax the headlights and taillights with this too. Use microfiber cloths to remove dried wax. Its easy on and easy off and you will keep the car waxed more consisitently cause its not such a PITA.

Tires/hoses in engine bay, etc: Meguiar's Silicone Free Dressing

Dash: 3M Marine Vinyl Cleaner and Protectant

Leather: Griot's Leather Care - see Car Care, Detail Supplies, Garage Organization, Car Accessories - Griot's Garage 800-345-5789

Glass: Stoner's Invisible Glass foaming sprayusing microfiber cloths. Follow the directions on the spray can exactly and its incredible.

Metal/Aluminum Polish: Mother's Aluminum Polish - follow directions on the can carefully. Do small sections at a time.

Painted 1 year ago but it had looked pretty good even before that with the 10 year OEM old paint. Originally was Mitsu OEM Northstar White. Repaint was Mistu's Innsbruck White a/k/a Wicked White used on later EVOs (color code W37). See more pics in my gallery.

Seavee it specifically says not to use Purple power near paint! Don't use it on paint.

Yeah thats not a good idea. About the only time you can get away with that is before you wax.

Yea dishwashing detergent is real bad for wax and paint in general. It is much more concentrated and stonger than car soap.
