i have a eclipse with a 4g64 is there anything i can do to it to improve the performance of it? I know you can put a 4g63 head on but will that improve anything? I know it will help if i do plan to go turbo but i really do not have to money to go turbo. Will the 4g63 head help at all if i am not turbocharged? Please help me and let me know.

Thank you.

yes is the answer to your question but if you want save up money and get the 4G63 head on there and then use the cometic MLS head gasket then turbo it and then yes you can push around 1 bar to 1.5 bars easy without complications

but you dont want to turbo it???
do you ???

if not then you should just put the 4G63 head on there without the cometic gasket and you should make good enough power for a NT but there is a whole thread on what to do with the 4G64 bottom end

i already know what the expenses are in order to go turbo as well as what i will need. I would much like to go turbo but i fear that i will never have the will to save my money over time to go turbo. I most likely will dip into the turbo fund to buy something else. Also it might take me awhile to save up about 4k in order to turbocharge my car.

It need not cost you 4K. You could easily scrounge around and put together a $1000 to $1500 turbo kit if you really went bottom dollar.

I spent around $3k, and right now all I could do to really raise the quality of my setup (besides building a forged bottom end and using a DOHC head) is get a bigger turbo and a front mount intercooler.

Even if you just used stuff that people are getting rid of, like stock IC pipes and a 14B turbo, you could do it very cheaply.

Furthermore, had I done the wiring correctly during my turbo ECU install, I think my car would have run quite flawlessly without even using an AFC or other engine tuning tool. My setup very nearly replicated a stock turbo car at first.

Don't even bother with a DOHC head unless you have a turbo. It will kill the torque and low end response that N/T Spyder owners enjoy (who don't have a turbo- Once you do, the DOHC becomes needed when you start flowing lots of air, and at higher RPM)
