oh wow this beats the SS Autochrome one which was (but no longer available and if it is much more expensive) that was $240 shipped which I reviewed here and other members here have..

but now an even cheaper alternative, which is probably the same thing rebadged under option racing brand..

eBay Motors: 95-99 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GSX DOWNPIPE+CATBACK EXHAUST (item 350150136348 end time Feb-05-09 20:53:04 PST)

the picture in the auction shows what seems to be a GST system, but I contacted them and they are indeed the GSX AWD one. they seemed to be very informed about the difference of the 2.

I would buy this if I didn't already have mine. I thought $240 for downpipe and catback shipped was a deal, this is even better. Perhaps someone out there is looking to purchase, if you do please review it for us.

i did find a picture of the proper downpipe that should be included in the package

it looks like there is a significant necking down where it meets the catback. the SS autochrome one does not at all.

Wow what a heck of a deal. I would buy it if i weren't looking to run straight piping.

i say try it the only thing that can go wrong is in a few years might rust a little or the hanger at the rear is slightly off! try it and post what you think it the parts feedbacks/reviews and let people know

the 2.5" from the start of the downpipe is fine..

the biggest concern is the neck down at the end that connects to the catback.

i contacted someone at option so they can check for us.. the piping is indeed 3" but it does neck down to 2.5 at the end of the downpipe as you can see in the pic, but its 3" other than that.. and before the flex which is true to most systems.

still a good price imo. apparently they have been selling like "hotcakes" is it anybody here? let us know how it is

Yikes. Mine was $240 shipped. And I didn't even have the luxury of getting it all shipped at once. Seperate auctions. That neckdown sucks. For someone who hates it, not only will they have to do the catback side, but also the downpipe side. Mine necks at the catback which I find is bad enough.

Seems like a very small section that necks down. Almost unnoticeable. It couldn't possibly effect it that much, like a fraction of a hp, maybe?

How does the neck not make it a true turboback? It still replaces your exhaust from the turbo, back.

I emailed them again today to see if they had any pictures of the GSX system. Was told they don't have one yet.

Oops I meant to put "true 3" turboback." Regardless, when I think of exhaust systems, I think of highways. And seeing a 6 lane highway go down to a 4 lane highway pisses me off. Same concept.

Just ordered. I'll be sure to let you guys know the results.

i chopped up part of an ebay exhaust to make my exhaust. they seem to be well made and look good, only problem is the pipes are really thin. It'll prob rust through after several years. my friend had an ebay exhaust on his 300zx which rusted through, but i dont know how long it was on the car.

Rust isn't that big of an issue in TN. Hopefully it'll hold up a little bit longer down here.

Thats a great deal thats where I bought my exhaust.. One problem was the the neck that lines up with the o2 housing is 2.5" then turns into a full 3" down pipe eliminating the cat.. The other problem was the "cat-back" part of the system was also designed to bolt up to the stock 2.5" catylic converter.. So you pretty much have a 2.5" end trying to match a 3" end and the exhaust tip is not a full 3" tip its still 2.5".. Thats eaby for ya but nothing your local exhaust shop cant fix :thumb: I had it all made to be a "true" turbo-back for $80 and a case of corona :shhh:

Digging up an old thread here... was this from the "optionracing" ebayer? I'm looking at their exhausts, but it looks like $200 shipped for the cat back alone, then +$100 for the downpipe. Just curious, seems like a lot of the (cheap/ebay) exhaust sellers are raising prices.

$300 shipped for a whole 3" turboback is not bad. Better than paying $600-$800 for just a namebrand catback.

Yeah, so true. I'll probably end up buying from them anyway, just wanted to see. I tried getting in touch with SSAC, but they're OOS of the 2G AWD and wont get any for about a month or so. They said they still had some kind of discount going on, but didn't say what. I'm in desperate need though (I literally pulled into my driveway with my mid-pipe DRAGGING ON THE GROUND!), so I'm not going to wait.

I'm AWD, so those wont work for me (super cheap though!). I've actually been considering painting an ebay exhaust to help with rust... it's killer here in new england.
