well after doing so much work on this damn car and wasted almost 1k trying to fix this Im still hearing this strange noise! What Ive done to car trying to fix noise:

brake rotors (slotted)
brake pads
driveshaft axles
all lower control arms

Everything was brand new and the noise happened before I did anything listed above. After changing axles noise went away, but then it came back like day later...I have no idea what it can be and im tired of wasting money that does not need to be wasted :notgood:

Here is vid:

By the way it also happened when I was in my driveway (ramp type) and it was real loud. Ill try and get that video soon after I get some replies. Please someone help! I would appreciate it! :dsm:

Did you cheked the wheel bearings????

Have you considered the wheel bearings themselves? I just recently replaced mine because they were bad and started to make a weird whining sound when I turned. The sound was different than yours but you never know, you just might have a worse case of bad wheel bearings.

I believe it was after the axles. I think we also checked after control arms not sure. I did everything in order in the list.

I also tried to make another clip from when it was real loud on the ramp/hill, but it didnt make the noise no more, this car is so weird! There is also some other noise coming from the battery it makes out of nowhere, when car is idling, sometimes it does it when car is off too..Its like this car was haunted LOL, new probs every day, its getting frustrating! :notgood:

heres an update, its getting louder and louder, I was able to take this video outside so you can hear:

Please does anyone know? No dsmer in my area can figure it out!

Did you check the brake dust shields???? maybe one is hitting the rotor?????

Yes that was checked and nothing. It mostly happens when turning, today was first day it actually did it when going back and forth. Weird thing is that today I was on the road for a while so after a while the noise gets worse as you drive and make so many turns that it even makes it going back and forth very slowly though.

Dont know if it normal but the rotors are darker from pads rubbing:

I was told that is normal and before we thought maybe it was calipers that were stuck, but in the end we tested them and they are good. Brakes real good. It is real hard to tell where the noise is coming from though! This is getting real frustrating, I dont know what the problem as I dont want nothing to break, I want to prevent it, but how?

Have you tried putting your car on jacks and then carefully(NOT LIABLE IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS) have someone drive it while its in the air to see if you still hear the noise and then you can narrow down(if you hear the noise) where its coming from?? Also do you have any other things done to your suspension?(poly bushings or anything)

almost sounds like a caliper may be starting to hang up. jack it up and spin the wheels see if its hard to spin em.

That is exactly what I was going to say. Try and determine if it goes away when you give the brakes some pressure. I'm betting one of your calipers is going south...

Put the car on jackstands and see if they noise changes tone or goes away.

I'm leaning toward a bad wheel bearing. Nothing else would really begin from making a left turn and get worse until it squeaks all the time.

It's possible for a wheel bearing to make noise without being loose....my grandfather's Caravan had a sound last summer that I SWORE was a tranny noise, but the tranny shop diagnosed it as a wheel bearing. It began all at once, and sounded like a loud "hum" at high speeds. It ended up being the bearing. Imagine how I would've felt had I replaced the tranny and the noise was still there!

hmmm weird thing is we did put on jackstands and move wheels no noise..

I dont get how it would be calipers because it does it when turning and we tested calipers and they were good.

Also dont know about wheel bearing because at high speeds noise is gone...and there is barely any play at all. Unless its something in the rear??? I have no clue

Dont know what it can be!!!

If it's the wheel bearing your rotors would be contacting the pads at a slight angle on turns possibly making the noise. I would replace your front wheel bearing hub assemblies. Also, make sure your axle nuts are tight.

This is normal with bad wheel bearings. There is no load on the bearing while the vehicle is on stands, so the noise goes away.

I've seen bad wheel bearings make some crazy sounds. One sounded like a bad tire...."thump, thump, thump" while you were going down the road. Another sounded like differential whine, or something from the trans. Another sounded like a high-pitched screech that would make you swear it's a brake-related problem. The most recent case, on my buddy's 2003 Chevrolet 2500HD...the front wheel was so loose from a bad bearing that you could move it back and forth with the wheel on the ground- but the bearing never made a single noise. Weird.

Wheel bearing troubles are one of the hardest things to diagnose in my opinion because they never show a consistent failure symptom.

Just for kicks....have you checked or changed your transfer case fluid lately?

hmm wheel bearing are weird LOL. I guess ill change them, hopefully they go away! And yes I changed transfer case fluid like 5k miles ago. When we did the axles fluid leaked maybe like half of a one of those .5 liter waterbottles. But we never refilled it. Should I refill it with more?

Thanks again for the help guys, I will keep this updated once I change the wheel bearings :dsm:

Of course you should have refilled it. The transfer case barely holds .5 quarts when full. If you let 250ml leak out the unit is running with about half the fluid it is supposed to be running with.

500ml = 0.55 quarts. 250ml = 0.28 quarts.

sorry I meant transmission not transfer case. But yea I have to refill transmission fluid a bit, need some more redline.
*phew*:p

That's a good price. We sell the BCA 513157's at my workplace for $74.95 a piece.
I noticed in the auction the 513157 number is mentioned, but what does BCA stand for?

If these are the same parts you deal in, would you say they are a reputable brand that should provide long service life?

You know, just trying to avoid the eBay burn. My Tie Rod ends from WorldSuspension (eBay) are terrible. They destroyed their own boots within a week since the ends themselves articulate at extreme angles that pinch and tear the boots.

It's formerly Bower Bearing, now owned by Federal Mogul. Basically a quality, USA-made hub instead of the Chinese alternatives you'll find as house-brands at such places like AutoZone or Pep Boys.

The number 513157 is an industry number used by many bearing manufacturers.

I couldn't agree with you more. I had a very similar sound to this when one of my front wheel bearings started to go bad. It got worse on turns...and eventually did it back and forth. When the bearing wears out, a heavy load causes the hub to flex...causing the brake rotor to come in contact with the pads.

Hmmm really? Same noise? Funny thing is noise has disappeared now  Havnt had the chance to replace the wheel bearings, but I thought since noise is gone maybe it can wait, unless it means it is really bad WTF

2 thoughts. First, are you sure it's coming from the front? It could be the rear calipers freezing up. Second, a way to test if the rotors are touching the pad, find the longest road you can (maybe even get on the highway) and drive down it. Then, use the ebrake to pull over and come to a stop and get out and touch the rotors to see if they're hot.

Well I tested rotors rear/front and it is good..

Now the noise is mostly clunk clunk when making a hard left turn. I also just changed out the wheel bearings like stated and guess what NOISE IS STILL THERE?!

After wheel bearing job we tested it and we made real hard left turns and no noise at all! Car was cold. So what I noticed today when I went to class, it was still good, but then after class (car real hot from outside) I drove back and made a u turn and it made CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK! What can this be?! This is real frustrating!!
