i forgot to mention, if you cant find any compressor maps for any turbo just let me know i have them all:thumb:

Just wanted to say Hi, and I to have gone to the dark side that is holset turbos. I have a 7 blade HX35 on the way and will be putting it in the BEP housing. I currently run E85 but have a feeling I will max out my stock injectors which are 850s. I'm only looking for around 400whp so I think this turbo will work perfect for me. I also just wanted to say thanks to everybody for making my turbo decision and research so easy.

850's should be fine to break your 400awhp goal on E85. I'm running 750's at over 400awhp.

You will need more injector for e85 if you wish to go to the limit of the hx35 with the bep housing. But yes the above is correct. 850s are enough for your current goal.

xi Talon ix, THANK YOU!!! I can't get the pictures clear enough when I copy to paint or other program and enlarge. I PMed you. You can give me the highest resolution shots you can. I will take the time to clear them up so they can be copied to the 'holset results' thread. That is where the clutter is sifted and the meat is compiled. You definately have a lot of meat there! I'm sure many of us would also like to see the various h1c and h1e compressor maps. Several of us are running these turbos and we're SOL for even a map. As adventurous as I may be, I don't like running a part on speculation alone :) . Again thanx!!!

I bought that book yesterday. I had seen it listed at some book stores but thought it was like every other book out there. What he posted is the extent of Holset maps. No more detail than shown. The page 75 maps are mearly the ones you find online on their site overlayed on each other. Maybe a few more, but not very detailed. The other two pages only cover HX series turbos but no part #'s to reference, so you don't know what compressor size the 40 is, for instance.

Good thing we already have city diesel's map to cross all the other maps and holset published maps using both lb/min and their prefered mass flow perameter to determine the lb/min flow of the hx40pro. . . I wish I could have the h1c maps. I guess I'll just have to make my own. The accurate 2g maf and IAT sensor plus a good ol' gmIAT sensor right after the compressor outlet will have to do. I may even be able to generate rpm curves not just the efficiency island profile.

O gawd you have to let me know how this goes I am thinking about putting one on my car next year bouncing between it and the 52. No idea really why I want to put a 52 on a street car, been trying to talk myself out of it though I know the 40 would be plenty for me LOL.

An HX40 pro with the .70 a/r housings is more power than any sane person needs....... then again not all of us are sane.

No really the hx40 will fit on most T3 manifolds out there unlike the HX52 and the 40 will sit be very streetable.

Hmm, Matt do you rebuild/inspect/clean turbos? I want to have my h2e checked out, cleaned up and if anything needs replaced have that taken care of.

See I started off thinknig sane and sayign I want to put 350 to the wheels, but as a I research more and thinking about how I am building my motor I feel like 350 is highly under estimating what I really want. I was talknig to dsm-onster about it in pm and I am def. going T3 40 when I rebuild next year on cruise LOL. The hx52 would just be retardedly to much fun for me on the highway though I did say "I want my car to be built like a supra, a highway monster" to my friends more then once. So many choices.

Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility." This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm a dsmer.

Sorry I couldn't resist LOL.:D

Thought you guys might enjoy seeing the Christmas present that I'm giving myself:

The entire HX40 rotating assembly is 100% brand new....came in a Cummins box with matching part numbers. I've already removed the 18cm2 turbine housing that came on it, and I'm preparing to list it on eBay. The Bullseye turbine housing on this turbo was bought used on the DSMTuners classified about a year ago for $100. My total investment so far is $589, minus what the 18cm2 housing sells for.

You forgot the need for lots of tranmssion pieces. ;)

Very true, man!!!

I just shredded the transfer case last week. I hope it is only that, not internal tranny problem. I wasn't even launching hard at all, but mixed some 93 octane with a 110 racing gasoline and doing some highway pulls. Going to be taking it out today.

Good luck with the new turbo Justin.
That is very nice BEP bolt-on you got!!!

BTW, you'll be feeding from the head, right??? No filter or restrictor, Correct???
Thanks,Andy.

The engine will be fully built and balance shaft-less by the time this turbo gets bolted to what will probably be a FP Race Mani. I'm feeding it from the head with an inline filter, no restrictor.

I don't mean to scare you, but I honestly haven't heard of too many guys shredding stock transfer cases, unless the tail shaft breaks under hard launching with LOTS of traction. I'm hoping it's not your center diff, or something else that's difficult to get to. Keep us posted!

Yeah, i havent heard of too many transfer cases breaking either. I think best case scenario, you stripped the splines on the output shaft on the tranny. Its very comon for them to wear out and not get changed untill its too late. That would be an easy fix if you can get the old shaft out of the tc.

I just jacked the car yesterday and it was in gear, not running motor. No cracks or anything, no leaks, but whan I am moving the righ front wheel back and forth it clanks something inside, whan you drive it, it is just a like little whine/not loud/, but it isn't bearing. I am going there right now and see what it is after I take it out... I'll let you know.

Just got home. Took the transfer case out only to find output shaft on tranny stripped and splines on TC almost flatened. Gear oil is vey clean, so hopefully is only that. Was able to get another output shaft, take out just outer tranny cover and VC and changed the shaft and put VC back. I will give it a try right after Thanksgiving, when I put cover and other TC back on.

Heres my Hx55 can't wait to drop her in.

Did you look at the splines on the new shaft? If they were pointed or worn you might want to start looking for one in better shape. This is a common problem. If the splines are worn you will probably have the same problem again.

Justin, that turbo is gorgeous! Good job finding that deal! I hope you can give us some more results in the near future.

Thanks, bud....I've been looking for a very long time. I still have to get my FWD completely finished before I even start on the AWD, but I'll hopefully have some results by next summer. I've been turning away customer car work in order to make time, although I'll still rebuild as many turbos as are sent to me no matter what. Turbos can be repaired quick and they don't take up much space in the shop....not like having 6 DSM's sitting in the driveway, anyway.

I don't know how you can say a hx52 won't be streetable when no one has come on with spool characteristics other than the hx52 dyno thread. Which actually doesn't look much different from a gt35r powered car which is a streetable turbo.
