I had the opportunity to spend some time with Tom at the shootout. He explained to me all the new features of V3 and the changes comming to his company now called ECMtuning. I was also lucky enough to preview it on a local members car who tom gave a test version to at the shoot out.

From that day on I was sold. I am 100% positive I am going to purchase V3 when it is released. I am curious to see who else is buying it, or upgrading.

I am going to buy it because there is no reason to buy V2 if there is a V3.
Would anyone like to enlighten me on what some of the new features are..

I know you don't need a MAFT translator any longer, can anyone confirm this?

Search. There are two threads that have this information. If you want to make it easier just search for posts by twdorris.

I'll be picking it up at some point. Not sure when, seeing as the car gets put away for the winter (so no real reason to pick it up right at release). But we'll see :D

Dserge: You can't purchase V2 anymore (unless you get it used) as they have halted sales to get ready for the V3 release. You are correct you will not need the translator anymore. Any question you have can probably be answered in this thread. If not, feel free to ask in there as Tom has been answering as many questions as he can.

I would like to upgrade to V3, but for my current setup and needs, V2 is sufficient. Possibly later when I run out of parts to throw at it or decide to go with a GM MAF.

well, i have the eprom, was going to get the v2, but since the taleon will not be finished by years end, v3 it will be for me.

i guess i will have to do some reading now on v3.:(

V3 has the ability to be tuned the same way as V2 if you want it to. You can chose between the slider way and load based within the program.

Have V2, I'll be upgrading to V3 probably in the spring since it's a little too cold out now to mess with the MAF for a good summer tune. I'll save them one copy from the backorder :p

To answer the question above, you do not need a MAF-T, they have a cable and I believe the price is $75.

Haha, I find it humerous its a thread asking if you're going to buy it but there is no option for NO.

I'm upgrading from v2.

I'm upgrading from v2.

It says "who is going to purchase" not " Are you going to purchase."

I intend to purchase V3 for my project car. Especially the new non-eprom version that plugs into the
processor slot with its own non-volatile memory. Its too risky buying used ECU's on Ebay. Got ripped twice now.

I want to upgrade. Depending on the price of the upgrade, I may get it or I may just stick with V2 and hold off speed density a little longer.

yeah, i read that part, my problem is i have zero experience with any tuning software besides a wideband LOL.:notgood:

i looked at the available info, head is swiming now haha. but i am still going to buy a v3.

on a side note, does it support C.O.P. setups? i am sure it does.

It is not that hard to tune once you get your hands on it. Plus, you can always post logs as there's a good bit of us on here that are more than willing to help. You won't regret purchasing it (at least I hope not).

ECMlink will not have any support for COP's as far as I know (DSMlink doesn't). These are usually controlled by an aftermarket CDI.

The upgrade is $175 and you will be able to flash your chip with new firmware once they get speed density implemented for no extra cost.

I suppose I can afford it. But I hope they implement speed density before or during winter break. I just can't afford the downtime since it's my DD.

Tom's response to a predicted speed density release.

Early '09? That's my guess. Maybe late winter/early spring. PLEASE don't hold me to it, though. The biggest problem I see isn't so much with implementation or data collection. We've got a good handle on how we want to go about it. It has more to do with how much time we'll have to work on it. I'm HOPING the V3 release will calm down after a month or so and we might have a couple hours here and there to look more into it.

The SD update as well as a number of other "future features" will be released as downloadable firmware updates. We're hoping the new architecture that allows us to release software updates to the chip will significantly reduce our release schedule. With V2, we had to really plan far, far ahead with an upgrade because the whole process was such a drain on resources. Hopefully we can release simple firmware upgrades a good bit more often. That's the plan anyway.

I would consider keeping my dsm for something like this... I read ECM link literature on the website. But still do not understand. So, a eprom ecu is not needed for this chip? Can some one please clarify? If, so I'm interested because if not my DSM days are over!!
