aight so i bought my eclipse knowing that i was going to have to rebuild my engine. it was already taken apart so i put the new pistons in and valve head on and new plugs and wires but for some reason it just cranks it won't run. i have no idea what's going on. there's three plugs (not spark plugs) that come from behind the fuel rail. two of them go into something under the radiator cap but i can't figure out where the third one goes. there's also another one that comes from the side of the block that i can't figure out where it goes either...anyone know where they go? i could really use some help.:dsm:

i've recently found out that i'm not getting any spark. so now i know it's either the distributer or the plug wires. i hope it's wires. do these cars have any like ignition safety stuff?? thanks for the help:dsm:

Wow we need pictures or a better description. Under the radiator cap.? I think your talking about the thermastat. Theres four plugs on the back side of the fuel rail.....Disty....

yeah...those are the plugs i'm talkin about. but is it more likely that my dizzy's gone bad than that my spark plug wires are bad?:dsm:

No distributer, you have a coil pack. It sits near the intake mani.

uh yeah i don't know that much about dsm that's why i joined this forum dick weed. and i know now that the coil is bad. i tested it last night with an ohmmeter:dsm:

Insult another member and you won't be around long enough to learn any more.

You've already been told a few times to give us a better description, so that way we can help you. Now you start insulting people and making mistakes on here. This is not a good thing because people will remember you name and won't help you later on down the road. I suggest you get some manners and be polite, that is if you want help.

Get an o2 sensor.. Have you made sure that you are getting spark/fuel in each cylinder?

i am getting fuel but no spark. i got a new coil after testing the old one and finding out that it was bad but still nothing. i then found out that if the crank shaft position sensor wasn't hooked up that no power would be going to the coil so i hooked that up but still nothing. i'm gonna hook a diagnostic tool up to it today and see if it's throwin out any codes. i'm pretty sure though that it's something with the ECM:dsm:

The MPI relay is what sends power to the coilpack and the fuel pump when you go to start the car.. Its located by the ecu/radio..

i got it runnin :D:D:thumb: !!! but it just cut off and now it fires when i turn the key but it won't stay runnin:confused: and i'm not getting much compression in the #1 cylinder but i'm still getting some. any ideas?:dsm:

You might wanna change your spark plugs again just in case. If any of them are fowled it definitely won't run very well. Also, since you knew the engine needed to be rebuilt, and it was already taken apart when you got it I hope you took it to a machine shop and had everything checked before you put her back together. Otherwise, you may have to take her apart again and send it to a good machinist to fix the compression problem.

Numbers please??
Pour a small amount of engine oil into the cylinders that are low through the spark plug hole and re-test compression. If adding oil helps compression, piston rings may be worn or damaged. If so, replace piston rings after checking the pistons.

well here's the deal. i'm getting compression in 1 out of 4 cylinders. found out that the guy i bought the car from bent valves when he cracked the piston and didn't tell me. so i'm getting the head worked:dsm:
