Yeah isn't it crazy when you go to fix one thing, then you find something else needs to be replaced. Hence that's the life of a tuner though. Good luck with your gasket swap. I'm actually planning to do my VC cover gasket soon (As soon as my new VC comes in the mail).

EDM, have you tried getting help on www.2gnt.com? You might have better luck there. Maybe check the DSM wiki there as well.

Good luck man

With the head on, I just took the plugs out and put a screwdriver (or equivelant) in the spark plug hole. Then rotate the crankshaft, till the screwdriver is at the highest point.
Or just align the timing mark on the crank sproket and oil pump.

It's not that hard as long as you have the right tools, if you have a haynes manual, and the right tools, you can probaly do it all in a day or 2.

WTFWell guess what I has another problem.
The trans mounts are busted up to heck all of them.
I am wondering if that is why I have a oil leak because of all the shakeing
of the motor because of the broken mounts.
I am just not sure if it is worth it to keep working on this car.

Wow. Those links are a great help! I think I'll tackle my engine again this weekend if time and weather permits. I'm trying to take out the motor without a lift for a rebuild and I got up to the motor mount removal and got PISSED! It is no space between the two sides. I'll update you guys and maybe snap a few pics as I take everything apart. Good luck with your build OP and let's keep in contact as we do this. I'll add you to my buddy list.

Hey thanks man. The motor mount removal is where I am too how crazy.
The way things are going I don't know if this will be done by the spring.
I am not going to rush any thing just take my time.

Well I worked on the car some more today.
Looks like I need a new belt.
Took of a few things. Took of the tb today.
I am not sure what I want to with the tb maybe I will get one from a jeep
and make it fit. I got sprayed with fuel dang fr had a small amount left in it.
Now I need to get a jack and take off the motor mount.
I am just wondering how the heck I will take off the exhaust pipe.

I know that the bolts to the exhaust on a 4g63 is a 17mm. I can't help you on the 420A buddy. Are you going to take the Valve cover off and paint to match finally??

I think that the bolts to the exhaust on a 420a are 19mm.
But I might need a breaker bar.
Yea I am going to paint the v/c again.

I think I will take my time on my engine build.
I wan't to have one of the cleanest engine bays.
Think I want to relocate the fuse box and some wires and stuff.

Well I got some more done today.
Pulled out more wires and the radiator.
I am an idiot I for got to drain out the oil
It was cold out side so that is all I got done for now.

Drop the exhaust next. Manifold to cat, if you can unbolt the cat, or else you'll have to take most of the hangers off, or just take it all off. Keep taking pictures along the way. Just in case, plus to document, also to post like you have been. Keep up the good work!!!:thumb:

It was that tight huh, well try again.. And if you can't get it, just drop all of the hangers up to the rear suspension. Or you can just unbolt the whole thing...Either way will give you enough room to menuver anything around. If your planning a build, You might want to just drop all of it. You can either use it later or upgrade to something larger.
