I recently got an aem wideband and installed it today, white wire to power black to ground, and when I turn it on it counts to 9 and all then when its at idle or driving it keeps flashing from lines --- to a number like 14.8 then lines again really fast. Is this normal or what could be wrong? thanks

no it idles fine, i put the wideband o2 in place of the second o2 sensor because i have no cat, i do plan on getting it put in at a better location but thought it should work ok there for now

Dude, You may have just wasted about $260.
Here's why:
-RED (Power) Connect to a 10v-18v power source.
-BLACK (Ground) Connect to a clean grounding point.
-WHITE(Analog Output) Connects to any auxiliary unit with a 0-5v input. <--not the power wire!
-BLUE(Serial Output) Connects to a RS-232 com port. (This output is optional)

i got the red hooked up to power black ground, gauge works fine now just the readings are all over the place bu steady 15.4 idle..does the white wire need to be hooked up for the steady readings if so where can i tap the white wire to? thanks

The white wire goes to your logger. It's an output. It's only used if you intend to log the data FROM your wideband, via DSMLink or some other logger software or device.

The reading will fluctuate indicating your actual A/F ratio in real time. I'm not sure I would trust yours after what it's been through, but my brand new AEM wideband moves up and down quite a bit. It should hang pretty steady near 14.7 +-~.5 during steady cruising.

i only had the white as power wire for not ever 5 min, now i have the red it idles seady 15.4 give or take when im wot it goes down to the 10's, when i let off the gas and coast in gear it reads nothing..so I dont need to hook up the white wire? I do not have a logger yet, got the s-afc 2 but waiting to put that in..

Yes that's perfect. Now you'll want to tune your fuel system so it says 11:1 at WOT and 14.7:1 at cruise. You'll never get 14.7:1 at idle (they like to idle lean), and --- means it's off the scale of lean (also normal) the ECU cuts all fuel on decel, well actually anytime the idle switch is activated and the RPM is above idle perameters.

awesome thanks for the help, would it be alright to hook the s-afc 2 up? i have 3 inch exhaust no cat, fmic, big t-28,walbro 255lp,afpr,wideband,upic with greddy type-s and maft. thanks

Sure if that's how you plan to make your fuel adjustments, I can't see why not.

I didn't see injectors on that list. If you plan to turn up the boost, you're going to need larger injectors.

Ps. I think you're going to want an AFPR to handle that 255lph pump too.

Got any exhaust leaks? I think they can be responsible for some wack readings as well. I also have the sensor in the 2nd 02 sensor spot and flucuate between 14.7 and 15.2 at idle/cruise.

My wideband behaves the same way. You don't need to hook up the white wire unless you want to log it in dsmlink or with a logger or something. You can just leave it alone for now. Get a fpr and bigger injectors (550 or 660s if you stick with an afc) and lean it out with the AFC.
