Cool, im glad to see, people posting all kinds of different SoCal shops, particularly tuning, ive updated this, and will keep this updated, and hopefully one day it can be a sticky :)

Also, throw in some repair shops, i know some of us love doing the mechanical work, but for example, right now i have some issues with my car ( speedometer not working, have one leaking turbo oil feed line leaking, air/heat need to be recharged fixed, want to make sure my alternator mount bracket is really correct ) that i would like to take to a trustworthy mechanic. I went through hell with one shop i wont mention because not sure the rules on flaming a shop(dont worry, its none of the ones listed), but put it this way, i had to get a new motor, so lets throw in some trustworthy Repair/Maintainance shops in here :) or do some of these tuning shops do that kind of work too?

I go to RRE for all the upgrades I can't do myself, but for maintenance and light repairs I go to Japanese Auto Center on sherman way in the valley. The mechanics know about turbo cars and they don't charge an arm and a leg. :thumb:

Cool, Japanese Auto Center is the official name of the shop? I work right here in Northridge so Sherman Way, or any other Valley Shop is VERY close to me! Give me the rest of the shop info ( telephone number, address) as not only do i need to go to a good reliable shop, but i m sure others in these forums would like to see our little shop list expanded even more!

Go to C&A, he worked for Mitsu for about 15 years. has every special tool needed to work on are car. guys from SoCalEvo even go to him for work. He knows his stuff. He the guy to go 2. Doesnt charge a arm and a leg either. theres about 7 DSM's there all the time. he has a 1g Eclipse, Galant VR4 and a 95 GSX of his own.

Go to C&A, he has a great following of DSMs and 3000GTs in the greater Los Angeles Area. I personally go to Chai for all my repairs.

Couple of Stories:
I have dropped off my car twice for a complete timing belt change at 8am and he had it done by my lunch break.

Recently one of the springs of my clutch disc broke off on a friday night. I towed it to his shop Saturday morning and I had my car back within a few hours with a new disc.

Seriously people. If you live in the valley or the surrounding areas, just go to C&A. You can talk to him about any problem and he can tell you what it is or find it out fast.

Edit: Haha, Socal tuners trust Chai..simple.

Well, just judging from the customer service i got from Chai himself, im very happy thus far, and will be taking it to him this monday to look over some issues im having :)

Well, after personally taking my car to C&A, i'm very happy to report that i am very impressed with not only Chai's customer service, but also his knowledge of DSMs. One thing that people have left out that was not mentioned is he is a Qualified Independant Mitsubishi Service mechanic...enough said right?

ANywhoo, for shops that i have personally have gone too, and positive comments from other posters ( not that my opinion would matter?) i will put a DSMStar next to their shop name, as to show them as a reputable and reliable shop

Another Chai-isfied Customer ROFL who did i hear that from

You should put like...10 for C&A. I recently went to change parts back to stock for a state Ref, and I was missing a stock 2G throttle body elbow. Long story short, I don't know where, I don't know how, but when I went to pick up the car, there was a stock one on it. I think it was his. Thanks Chai :thumb::dsm:

Edit: Haha. Who said that Andy?

this is dumb LOL.. i just read this post and almost everyone who replied knows how to fix cars and install greddy profec's and tune... including cphunter... he even knows how to install SAFC's ... just ask someone on here nicely... LOL Now guys dont deny this guy help... charge him $50.00 do it for him in 45 minutes and we got us a new dsm buddy

How much did C&A charge for a timing belt/balance belt change? I'm buying my own parts (timing belt, balance belt, and auto tensioner) so how much would it be for labor? By reading all the recommondations for this guy, I'm convinced to take my car to him.

I'd like to know as well.

Lets just say I am impressed with Chai's work. I dropped off my car to get the new timing belt and balance belt on. I also bought a new auto tensioner all from extreme psi. Once I dropped it off, Chai and I talked for about 20 min, telling me about his career w/ Miller Mitsubitshi and how he ended up opening up his own little shop. Nothing spectacular, just a 2 door garage behind an Arco....but its his talent that impressed me. I told him about my car having hard cold starts and he said he would look into it with no additional charge. The next day the car was ready and he told me he couldn't get it to start after replacing the timing components. My gut just sank....then he mentioned that he took out the ecu and replaced 2 parts on it and then put it back together, and the car started. All I could think was, a dealership or some other garage would of never done that for me. I picked up my car and opened the glove compartment and noticed the old 1st coolant temp sensor, he took it out and replaced it free of charge. The car idles and drives incredible! I'm a customer for life to C&A and if you have a DSM....go to C&A, he knows what he is doing. Chai is the man! Oh yeah....if you don't buy your own parts a full Timing Belt, Balance Belt, Water pump & seals will only cost you $500....thats with labor....talk about a deal!

^^^ Congrats on getting it fixed real fast. That kind of thing is how Chai is.

In fact, I'll be seeing Chai again soon to replace my rear differential seal.

I'll be seeing him more often if I have any issues with my car. He needs to be recognized for his work. Spreading the word is the best way. Thanks guys.

theres a shop called Design For Race (DFR) in san bernardino. his name is Bea he is into hondas now but he used to be a dsmer and he knows his stuff. hes got a 7.9 1/4 mi hatch

Has anyone been to yimi tuning to get there car dynoed or heard anything about them there in Santa Clarita???

Yea Yimi usually works on WRXs and EVOs. They are capable tuners so I am sure they can do SAFC or DSMlink. Just call and see if they know how to use whatever tuning device you are using.

In my experience, it depends on who you talk to and your attitude. After all, everyone is only human, and there are people you will not like, and people you will like to chat with. Then there are people you can't stand to talk to, or a type of person you are tired of hearing from. Nothing against people in general, but I know RRE is kind of tired of hearing everyone coming in wanting 400 AWHP. After hearing it so many times, and very few coming close, it's kind of redundant on their end.

That's my $.02.

Personally, I can talk to Sam a lot easier than I can Robert.

Sometimes, personalities just don't mesh.

UPDATED: To include any DIY folks that want to help out any fellow DSMers in the SOCAL area, so post if you want anyone to know about any cool peeps with skillz that wish to share :)
