raise your hand if you have made over 300+ hp on a 16g

What kind of airflow are you guys seeing at 21 psi on big 16g's? Stock cams and intake manifolds.

Your friend is entirely correct. I would argue that most 16g equipped DSMs do not make 300whp+. I would also argue that this thread is no indication of, well...anything. For obvious reasons.

There is no question that 16g's are capable of 380 and apparently even 499whp. But, the thing is, the number of people cracking 300's is minuscule and are definitely the minority. I would argue that most 16g owners hardly even visit dsmtuners, if at all.

Those less dedicated or less informed probably don't the have the perfect fuel setup, nor the tuning knowledge to make it happen. DSMtuners is something we take for granted.

Unless there has been some drastic change, 2 years ago there was proof that few break 300whp (despite the many who do) in the form of the dyno slips and other available resources that could indicate "the going rate".

The bottom line is that the knowledgeable DSMers break 300 and the less knowledgeable don't.

I say this will be based on the fuel being used in most cases.
The race gas, e85, meth injection guys are probably all capable and likely to be making over 300whp.
The straight crappy 91-94 octane guys are probably making sub 300whp on the average setup.

Then you have a lot of guys who just claim numbers or exaggerate to over inflate the 16gs image.

These have to be the truest statements. While it's true that some do, I would also bet that a majority don't. Mine has never been to the dyno, but I have no illusions that it's any higher that 275ishWHP with the current setup and tune. But then again, all I was looking for was around 300WHP...and once I get off my a$$ and do a little more, I'll be there.

Man I need to get my car dynoed. Im guessing 400+whp from the boost levels I'm running and cars I have said goodbye too. 16g hits 30+psi (guessing 32-34psi) and falls to about 26psi by redline. Timing is conservative when the turbo spikes and is at about 22* by redline. Im running a safe 11.5 afr on e85 and I get 2-5 counts knock at most on a hot day. When I get some better tuning I will be adding a 75 wet shot of some nitrous and hope I can see near 500whp.

;)

Get to the track man, id like to see if your car is quicker than mines or how much that altitude is messin you up LOL

I never heard numbers like that on pump gas. I've heard numbers like that on race gas with a built motor.

414HP, 459torque yesterday on a dynojet. E85, boost spike (crappy mbc) 27-28 psi or so that then settled in at around 22psi. I absolutely can't get more psi after putting in the cams, although it has way more power with less boost.

I like those numbers.... Hows your 750s keeping up, internal gate or external, and what type of AFR compression and timing was you on if you dont mind sharing?

Injectors should be fine for a few more hp; stock internal gate; only about 8:1 compression; I shoot for between 8 & 8.5:1 AFR (I street tune, not dyno tuned at all); timing low to mid 20's.

Really if you think about it. These cars are all making 300 + flywheel horsepower . Just add the drivetrain loss to your dyno number and you will be quite happy with the power your really making.

i made 300hp on a 14b at 15psi on 93, i then made 375hp on a small 16g at 20psi and e85, then i made 445hp and 434lbs on a 18g sl2 at 28psi spike holding 24 at 7500rpm on e85 with 750's. mods in my pro, i am currently using another stock block and 2g head with a evo3 manny and fp3052. im guessing about 500+hp at 28-30psi on e85 with all the other mods in my pro. i ran my freinds br stage3 motor and head talon making 460hp with my galant and pulled him in my galant. love the mid rang power and the topend of the 2g head and manny setup, i kept on pulling till 8k.

car was running good and i had a good set up, i didnt get to dyno the car at 20psi with the 14b. i used to work for intercrew in garland and i had a lot of play time on the dyno. with that in mind i have found little things here and their that made or lost power. but yea i have made 300hp on a 14b at 15 psi, and then i got a small 16g and made 315-320hp at 15psi and 375hp at 20psi. then i bought a 18g sl2 and made 400hp at 20-22psi and finished at 445hp with a 28psi spike falling to 24-25psi.

i think i had around 300 safely. it was on a big 16g ported and clipped, 16 psi. (gvr4 with 2g pistons, 1g rods and supporting mods and safc)

300whp at 15psi on a 14b is a very high number. People really don't make that much on 16gs that often at that boost level, nevermind a 14b.

yea thats true, my setup was put together very well and i had some small port work done on the head and other areas.if i had a higher comp motor and intake manny i could have made 500hp on the 18g on e85. i sould have tried to see how much hp i could have made on the 14b before i took it off.

I did the numbers in my profile on an Evo316g two years ago. The tune was shit, and on pump. I can't wait to dyno again this season. Now that I can tune, and my partner is much better than I. Same turbo, more fuel and much better tuning. I can't wait.

I ran the numbers shown to the left in my 3380lb car on a crappy 1.9 60', so there's some hp hiding in there LOL. That works out to roughly 400hp at the crank and 335hp at the wheels. Evo3 16g and e85.
